Brief Overview About Mpesa :

- This service was first launched in Kenya where it is known as M-PESA in 2007.

- M-PESA was a partnership between Safaricom and Vodafone to provide financial inclusions & other services to customers.

- In India, M-Pesa is a new service launched by Vodafone & ICICI Bank allowing customers to do monetary transactions on their phone like a mobile bank account.

- M-Paisa provides an affordable, fast, convenient and safe way to transfer money by SMS/ USSD anywhere in India.

- Money can be transferred to any registered or unregistered mobile subscriber as well as to any bank account.

- Apart from money transfer, customer also gets various utility services like, Electricity bill payment, Postpaid bill payment, DTH recharge, LIC premium payment, Prepaid Mobile recharge, etc.

Work Outline :

- Distributor appointment in entire Zone for M-Pesa business within a radius of 30 Kms from ICICI Bank branch.

- Identifying & appointing prospective Agents & Merchant entities from existing distribution channel & simultaneously setting up an alternate channel.

- Collection of required documents (MD/AD/AGENT/MERCHANT) as per banking guidelines & company norms.

- Ensuring documentary compliance is met & the same have been accepted & processed by the bank.

- Ensuring SIMEX for all the Agents after completion of documentation process.

- Ensuring Agreements are being done with Agents as per the company guidelines.

- Ensuring regular training to Distributors, Agents, Distribution Team & front liners about product, documentation process, commission & incentive structure, etc. are rendered along with CS team.

- Proper customer education through NUKAD meets; canopy activities & small gatherings are done on regular basis.

- Tracking competition information & escalation of the same for acquiring better market share, product acceptance & customer friendly.

- Guiding the prepaid team & agents in customer acquit ion & proper resolution of issues being rendered to the customers & trade within stipulated TAT.

- Monitoring of inventory level for E-Money & proper cash norms are met by the Distributors & Agents.
