Airtel - Group Head - Indirect Taxation

Purpose of the Job

1) To ensure that the indirect compliances for all group entities involved in telecom, retail, telecom infrastructure support, reality, hospitality, and divisions are done in all states in the country on a timely basis.

2) To monitor, mentor the circle/country tax teams on indirect tax and regulatory compliance framework and provide them the guidance and adherence to protecting the tax positions of the company through innovation and process improvements.

Deliverables:

1) Lead the circle/country tax teams ensuring the group tax compliance

2) Define the strategy and develop the business case as well as roadmaps for country indirect tax compliance monitoring and department handling proactively

3) Train and develop the competence in the circle/country tax teams to improve the tax compliance and local governance processes.

4) Manage the liasoning with the tax and regulatory authorities by way of continued engagement and representation so that the complexities of tax issues in the businesses of the entities are appreciated by them whilst tax policy formulation and administration process.

5) To drive business partnering and cross functional engagement proactively to bring tax cost optimization in terms of transaction/contract structuring. Also to engage proactively with industry forum to drive the tax policy recommendations for representation.

6) To lead the litigation management with proactive engagement with senior counsels and industry peers.

Education:

- Bachelor Degree in Commerce/ CA

Working Experience:

- At least 15 years of work experience and 5 years in taxation in telecommunication/IT related industry.
