Job Description :

The job of the category manager is quite vast and entails activities right from developing products, creating marketing collaterals for the same, conducting market research, analyzing the competitors, creating and ensuring production timelines, developing pricing strategies, putting in place quality control measures, and initiating and planning product launches, to developing marketing strategies for the same.

Responsibilities :

- Forecasting and understanding the nature and scope of present and future product changes in the product line by reviewing product specifications and requirements constantly

- Ensuring standardization with the help of quality control measures.

- Engaging with multiple vendors to source products, onboard new vendors, and parallely creating vendor audit systems for utmost efficiency

- Creating marketing collaterals to ensure the right branding and image of the product in the market

- Researching the existing competition by comparing the company's product to competitors- products and offerings

- Creating strategies on how to launch the product in the market

- Developing product sales strategies through past trend analysis and finding new methodologies to increase overall revenue streams

- Providing information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analysis

- Facilitating inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules

- Preparing return-on-investment report which would denote the ideal goal and if it is not met, how to go about it

- Introducing and marketing new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales and production

- Determining the product pricing by utilizing the data derived from market research and reviewing production and sales costs

- Anticipating volume, special costing, and special specifications of customized orders

- Maintaining P/L of this specific product line
