Job Description :
Aegon Life Insurance Company is seeking to fill a position within its Actuarial & Risk department which will oversee actuarial modeling and will assist in executing financial risk management initiatives.
This role will provide opportunities to :
- Work across multiple actuarial disciplines in a dynamic business environment
- Understand and implement modern market-consistent valuation and quantitative risk management techniques
- Bridge both sides of an insurance company's balance sheet (assets & liabilities)
- Support management in making important business decisions
- Develop a sound understanding of business operations from point of sale to policy cessation
- Work closely with other teams within Aegon Life, as well as Aegon's Financial Risk Management team in Hong Kong.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Actuarial Modeling :
- Oversee maintenance of a timely, accurate, well-documented, and comprehensive valuation modeling process, including annual updates and user acceptance testing
- Work closely with the Reporting team to explain modeling results to the Appointed Actuary as needed
- Work closely with the Pricing team to ensure consistency between valuation and pricing models
- Identify opportunities for improvements in modeling & process efficiency
Financial Risk Management :
- Asset/liability management strategy development, execution, and reporting
- Risk strategy development, including setting of risk budgets and risk tolerances
- Model validation
- Risk policy development and implementation
- Product development and review
- Participate in risk management committees, including the Asset/Liability Management Committee and the Risk and Capital Committee
- Promote a sound risk culture within Aegon Life
Position Qualifications :
Required :
- At least 5 years of modeling-focused work experience
- All Core Technical (CT) series actuarial exams cleared
- Knowledge of different types of insurance products and liability modeling
- Strong knowledge of Prophet actuarial modeling software
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel & VBA
- Strong attention to detail, as well as strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills and tolerance for ambiguity
Desired :
- Familiarity with financial risk management concepts, investment mathematics, and related technical skills
- Database skills (e.g. Oracle)
- Ability to develop and implement automated processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
