Job Purpose :

- Plan, organise and manage all activities of Statutory compliances with highest quality and cost effectiveness to maximise the degree of compliances, making the organization risk aversive which results in superior repute of the organization among the industry, citizens and government of the country .

Job Context & Major Challenges :

- The market size of the domestic apparel retail industry is currently estimated to be at 1.9 Lac Crore Rupees per annum and is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 10% per annum. The depth and width of the business can be estimated by the share of the urban ready to wear market which is a meager 28%.

- The industry is witnessing heightened levels of activity with existing players consolidating themselves through partnerships, inorganic growth and new foreign players entering the Indian market, thanks to the traction being witnessed on the much awaited FDI policy of the government.

- Acquisition of Pantaloons Fashion Retail Ltd. (PFRL) by ABG completes a significant milestone for the apparel business. It has allowed the apparel business to enter the value segment of the ever growing and ever complex Indian retail market for apparels. It also marks the foray of the ABG apparel business in the women's and kids category, and areas of limited strength currently.

- Significant amount of time and resources were invested in concluding the Spring Summer 13 and Autumn Winter 13 ranges, significant steps of which were already initiated by the former promoters, Future Group. Spring Summer 14 and Autumn Winter 14 and beyond would be seasons where the current management team of Pantaloons would have complete planning, delivery, accountability.

- With 80 pantaloons stores and 25 PFOs, along with aggressive expansion plans, scaling up operations requires a tremendous amount of planning, execution excellence, and inter functional coordination.

- Creating newer brands built on a fine balance between product quality and price, effective operations management, concept to consumer translation for creative functions, strategically sound planning, merchandizing and pricing, effective human resource management, and commercial acumen will be critical factors towards the success of the organization.

- PFRL being a listed company, corporate governance, compliances and investor relations is also key to the success of the organization

- Pantaloons is en-route to establish itself as a fashionable brand catering to multiple segments. Upholding the brand promise to the discerning customer who is spoilt for choice is a major challenge for the role holder. In a market which is fast getting inundated with international brands, highlighting the brand and attracting customers to the store is critical.

- It is critical for a core function like Operations, to be aligned to the external and internal customers of the organization. Working in close coordination with other functions requires thorough understanding of the business, conceptual clarity for the category function and a clear line of sight for the future objectives of the organization.

- The range of offerings and PFRL is complex, diverse and each brand has a unique/ differentiated ethos which needs to be translated into an appropriate product with targeted Gross margins

- Superior control on work processes & enabling quicker controls for reviewing and changing with lateral thinking is required for the effective delivery of the position.

- With huge existence and growing Pantaloons & PFO stores, scaling up Statutory operations requires a tremendous amount of planning, execution excellence, and inter statute coordination. One of the biggest challenges faced is the

The Role is responsible for ensuring Smooth delivery of end to end Statutory compliance management for the zone and the major challenges are as follows :

- Planning and Execution of tactical plans in situations where we are expected to meet the highest levels of compliances with the most cost effective measures.

- Proactive and continuous liaison with external organizations and individuals with different orientations.

- Mitigating the gaps in compliances with the current requirements under various labor statutes

- The number of transactional activities involved with hard copy documents like PF nomination, Transfer & Withdrawals and ESIC end to end process for the complete employee base of nearly 1200 employees in NZ.

- . Bring in the sensitivity among the different stakeholders regarding the philosophy of 100% compliances and handing the transition effects.

Key Accountability :

Key Accountability Supporting Actions :

- Ensuring compliance to various Labour Laws and related philosophies for ensuring 100% compliance

- Effective Planning & Designing of the compliance philosophies in the zone as per different statutes.

- Execution of compliance philosophies in close coordination with store staff and government departments.

- Timely adherence to the compliance plan.

- Ensuring procurement of necessary licenses and permission to operate in different geographies.

- Verification of applicability of particular permission/License in a specific geography

- Development and filling the correct documentation for the application.

- Handling & Assisting on relevant queries arising out of license applications

- Build & Maintain effective Liaison within Government departments for issuance of Licenses & Permissions.

- Ensuring Routine Compliances to Labour Laws for effective hassle free operations of store

- Monitoring and timely execution of statutory submissions under various Labor statutes.

- Keeping a track on the proper maintenance of forms and Registers required for the purpose of Labor inspections and are requirements under various Labor laws.

- Filling of returns and intimations with the government departments for maintaining statutory compliant status.

Handling Employee Relation Issues to maintain a productive workforce and a conducive working environment : Devising ways to decrease employee unrest by taking proactive measures to curb employee groups formed with iniquitous intensions.

- Conducting Domestic enquires and ensuring Proper documentation within the framework of the legal system in disciplinary action matters.

- Investigating and executing punishments orders in matters involving deceit, Value Violations, embezzlement, coercion etc.

Monitoring / implementing statutes related to Employee Benefits such as retrials and Insurance : Ensuring enrollment of all the eligible employees for Government (ESIC) and private Mediclaim insurance.

- Ensuring enrollment of all the eligible employees under retrial welfare schemes of the government like PF, Pension, EDLI etc.

- Assisting the complete employee base to avail benefits under various welfare schemes of the government and organization.
