We have a Urgent Opening for VP Credit Operations with a leading MNC Bank.  Position available at: Mumbai  JOB DESCRIPTION  Grade: VP  Location: Mumbai  Please go through the JD  Purpose of the Job  - To assist the Head Credit Operations to plan, direct and control the functioning of the Area credit operations with a view to ensuring the highest levels of service to both internal and external customers, and with the objective of protecting the interests of the bank at all times.  Environment of the Job  - They have reorganized its credit management function and the related approval procedures with a view to segregating risk assessment and the approval process from the line management. This philosophy has been extended further to have credit operations report into the Credit Risk Management (CRM) function as well. With effect from 16 Jun 03, the back-office operations of corporate credit was centralized in Mumbai, and the centralized department is tasked with the entire spectrum of activities such as security documentation, asset inspections, security valuations, processing of guarantees, preparation of returns, loading of limits on HUB, MIS, compliance with regulatory requirements, interface with the external auditors, and B&DD related support activities.  - Back-office support is provided for the Global relationships, large Indian corporates and the SME segment, and for the factoring and the PCM businesses. As the Indian economy gets progressively more liberalized, market forces will increasingly determine business direction, and competition will result in the more nimble and efficient entities thriving on new opportunities. A concomitant effect of this changing environment is invariably a higher number of failures, thereby increasing the risks for all stakeholders be they entrepreneurs, lenders, consumers, equity holders etc. Greater levels of financial disintermediation would result in depleting margins, compelling banks to explore new avenues for growth.   - It acts as a "Major" Area and, has set itself ambitious targets in terms of asset growth, income and profits that have been documented in the recent review of Strategic Plan. The need to diversify the asset base, arrest the trend of declining margins arising from a portfolio concentration in the large segment has led to a sharper focus on the SME segment, which is a high volume business. Introduction of new products with their distinct characteristics and features, the myriad demands of the varied customer base will require the credit operations department to be more receptive, and alert.  - With a view to provide better services to the Business Groups activities pertaining to security documents and guarantees have been partially decentralised to Areas since 2008 in a phased manner.  - Given the wide and broad range of activities required to be performed within stringent deadlines, the potential for operational losses is high. Ensuring data integrity and valid collateral agreements at all times is a daunting challenge which has to be achieved within the customer expectations of top quality service.  Guidance and Authority  - Internal - BIM Vol 3, CRF Guidelines, Area Operating and Strategic Plans, Country Risk Plan and guidance issued by Risk from time to time.  - External - legal and regulatory requirements of Reserve Bank of India, Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Bank of England, Sick Industrial Companies Act (SICA), Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC), Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act (SARFAESI), Corporate Debt Restructuring scheme (CDR).  Principal Accountabilities  - Ensuring that Centralized Credit Operations (CCO) provides high quality service to both external and internal customers  - Transaction Processing  People Management  - Maintain internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring  Major Challenge  - The main challenge is to provide high quality service to meet the demanding requirements of the wide range of corporate banking customers without compromising on our stringent internal standards. Given the keen competition to secure and retain business, back-office service quality will be a key differentiator, and the job holder has to continually ensure that the judicious balance is maintained between the conflicting pressures.
