Vice President - Plantation/Estate Management - Tea & Coffee

Job Summary :

This position will be responsible for the efficient management of all the estates. He will be responsible for achieving crop production targets and set realistic performance and commercial goals for all staff and plantations. In addition to this he will be responsible for maintaining excellent working relations with local and state government authorities, labourer's and law and order enforcement bodies.

Specific Responsibilities :

- Overall head of the Plantations business and responsible for smooth functioning of all operations of the estates

- Identify and implement new technologies to maximize yield and review current cultivation practices and address process deficiencies

- Constantly on the lookout for identifying new business opportunities to get maximize revenue through plantations and present it to Board for consideration and approval

- Ensuring overall compliance covering legal, HR and administration

- Identifying potential buyers and negotiating best price for export of coffee

- Responsible for purchase function of raw materials, capital items and other material required for the functioning of the Group

- Oversees the operations in terms of Cultivation, Harvesting and Manufacture and provide advice and inputs

- Liaise with various Government Departments / bodies, Trade Union leaders etc to ensure smooth functioning of the Group

- Liaise with various arms of the Company internally like marketing, Finance, HR, MD's office etc to ensure plans and targets are met

Essential Competencies :

- Thorough knowledge of cultivation practices, manufacturing and processing of Tea/Coffee

- Good understanding of cost and identify areas for significant cost reduction

- Well versed with Word, Excel and Power Point

- Knowledge and expert level proficiency of the local language(Tamil/Kannada/Malayalam)

- Valid driving license and excellent driving skills of 2/4 wheel vehicles

- Commercial acumen and good understanding of sales, exports and quality control and assurance

- Should be willing to travel extensively and frequently across all estates, HO and other locations

Experience :

- 20+ years in coffee and tea plantations in South India with at least 10-15 years in senior leadership roles reporting directly to Board or equivalent level

- Experience in independently heading tea/coffee plantations in international locations will be preferred
