Times Internet Limited was voted as India's number 1 Internet network in 2011 and continues to keep the honors. At TIL we like to be build exciting products in the internet space and be proud of what we build. Over the last few years we have reached out to users through products like Gaana, TimesCity, BoxTV and TimesDeal. Since digital marketing, particularly search engine and social media marketing, is so central to all Internet products, we have strong interest in this space and have big plans for it.

Our digital marketing suite of products is in various stages of evolution, with some being at concept stage and others being in production at good scale. We are looking for individuals who have a broad view of the Internet and digital marketing technologies and are passionate about it.

Role Overview:

- Specifically we are looking for an Enterprise Architect who has solved complex problems and managed multi-layered sophisticated technology stacks. The enterprise architect must have strong foundations in highly distributed, scalable and robust systems. If you are the guy whom every developer looks up to as their mentor, write search engines in your spare time, have launched apps and websites all by yourself, and love to zonk peers with your pranks and brilliance, we would like to discuss with you how we can be of help to each other. You would find the most exciting set of colleagues and get exposure to everything internet, including a zillion startup ideas and thought provoking discussions within this team.

Key Expectations

- You will be the pivotal person in the technology unit, solely responsible for executing all product roadmaps

- You would have very high standards for performance, quality, timelines and robustness in the products you take ownership of.

- You will manage delivery and quality expectations across all stakeholders through persuasive and effective communication

- You would be expected to have complete and accurate knowledge about all technologies that might play a role in the products we are building.

- For technologies that are new to you, you would be expected to pick them up faster than anyone else and become the SME for it in no time

- You would have excellent presentation and business communication skills so you can explain and defend your solution architecture before any audience – from the lay- people to the authorities on the subject

Job Description for Technical Architect, Digital Marketing, TIL 1

Deliverables:

- Design scalable, highly available, reliable and extensible architectures and solutions to meet product requirements

- Define the design for application structure with an emphasis on reusability, portability, robustness, and maintainability.

- Develop designs that use Industry Standard Practices, Frameworks and Design Patterns.

- Document and articulate the Architecture and Design to various stakeholders.

- Produce technical designs and documentation for proposed solutions.

- Produce effort and task estimates for designed solutions.

- Drive and lead small to medium complexity application delivery initiatives.

- Accountable for the solutions produced by the development team assigned to project or program, and ensuring final solution meets technical design that was created.

- Own project or initiative issue identification, escalation, potential resolution and risk management.

- Participate in scrum meetings and be responsible for communication of and development of solutions of which you produced the design.

- Build trust and passion in the team; provide support and guidance to team members.

- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills. Dynamic, effective communicator at all levels, in both structured and non-hierarchical, informal structures.

- Strong change orientation, personally highly credible and a strong self-starter. Ambitious and flexible with well-honed team skills and strong personal drive, effective working relationships at all levels

Skillset

- Experience and willingness to do rigorous hands on development

- High analytical and critical reasoning aptitude

- Solid understanding of the TCP/IP, HTTP, SOAP and other network communication protocols

- Expert level knowledge of security issues at all levels including browser, network, application and the database.

- Conceptual understanding of the semantics, versions and known issues of a typical frontend technology stack comprising of JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, HTML/HTML-5, CSS/CSS-3, JSP/Servlets, Spring-Web, PHP etc.

- Strong grasp over and experience in common enterprise middleware artifacts like thread-pools, distributed caches (memcache/tangosol etc), search technologies (Lucene/SOLR/Cassandra), distributed computing (e.g. Hadoop), object-relational mapping (e.g. Hibernate) and queuing (e.g. JMS) etc.

- Expertise in multiple database technologies, especially MongoDB and MySQL, is mandatory

- Expertise in database and query performance tuning via profilers, indices etc. is strongly preferred

- Hands on knowledge and development experience in APIs of top digital marketing platforms like Google (Search/ Maps/ Webmaster/ Adwords/ GMail etc.), Facebook (graph API, FB Ads), Twitter, FourSquare etc. is strongly preferred

- Familiarity with iOS and Android mobile app development environments is expected; hands-on development experience is strongly preferred

- Demonstrable experience with J2EE Web Profile / Open Source/LAMP for web site / application development preferred.

- Fluent ability to work in at least one Agile methodology, preferably Scrum and single handedly manage build and testing environments based on ant/maven/Jenkins/ continuum etc.

- Strong grounding in developmental ethics e.g. object-oriented design, loose coupling, test drive development, exception handling and extensibility

- Communication Skills strong enough to understand and explain ideas relevant to the job role

Minimum Qualifications

- Engineering graduate, computer science highly preferred

- 7 years development experience

- 3 years project management experience

- 2 years experience working in a startup

- 2 years experience working on digital marketing platforms like Google, Facebook, Twitter etc.

- 3 years experience in building and leading teams of at least 8-10 contributors
