Overview of Role:
The operations manager will be responsible for planning delivery timelines, ensuring timely procurement, monitoring stock levels and maintaining a smooth workflow at all points in the supply chain. The individual will report to the MD.
Responsibilities :
- Collaborating with the sales and marketing team to understand the specifications of the product that needs to be produced from the suppliers
- Identifying or qualifying new suppliers by understanding their manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements
- Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers by visiting the manufacturer/suppliers site to ensure that they meet the quality and delivery requirements
- Designing and implementing supply chains that support the organizations new business strategies adapted to environment, new or changed laws, new business opportunities, wastage control or cost reduction
- Ensuring orderly and timely receiving of the goods, and participating in coordination with other departments to optimize customer service
- Developing procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance
- Managing activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control
- Analyzing inventories to determine how to increase turns, reduce wastage, or optimize customer service
- Conferring with supply chain planners to forecast demand or creating supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products
- Meeting the suppliers to discuss production forecast or changes
- Defining the service and logistical requirement of the major customer groups. Identifying customer needs such as expected order fulfillment cycle time, handling requirements, delivery requirements and special service needs
- Determining the material storage and handling strategy based on estimated production volume, stocking levels, and material storage requirements
- Preparing logistics budget conducting the variance analysis to identify deviation between actual and estimated expenses
- Critically analyzing and working closely with functional heads for improving design and implementation of logistics/supply chain
Prerequisites:
- Graduate/Diploma in supply chain management with 10 to 15 years of experience in Retail/FMCG distribution center environment
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and ERP tools
- Good planning and leadership skills
- Attention to detail
- Should have managed a team before
