Plant Controller/Plant Finance Head - CA - Auto

The plant controller position functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively manage and control the local business.

Leads the financial staff at the plant and is accountable for plant-level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, order entry, billing, cost accounting, bill of materials, business analysis, financial reporting, sales management, and computer operations. Will also liaison with corporate financial staff, as required.

Essential Functions

Prepare monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning.

Responsible for internal controls at the plant for operations, sales and finance.

Accounting and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.

Analyze and accurately report current month's financial results to the plant, sales, and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements.

Submit all financial transactions, transmissions, and reporting on a timely and accurate basis.

Managing financial resources effectively to ensure minimum cost of funds and maximum RoI.

Compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments.

Perform audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly. Report audit results monthly.

The Plant Finance Manager has complete responsibility for the financial operations of the Manufacturing facilities. Manages and directs the development, interpretation and reporting of financial data to support the attainment of Plant/Business Unit objectives. Plans, coordinates, and administers the budgeting process for the facility. Establishes Accounting practices and procedures consistent with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices), and in accordance with corporate policies and legal requirements.

Directs the Accounting operations at the Plant and related remote locations. This includes:

Financial analysis, planning, and forecasting,

Recommending and implementing financial strategies to optimize the utilization of Manufacturing resources,

Designing, implementing and maintaining Standard Costing systems,

The review of actual results versus established benchmarks, commenting on significant variances,

Evaluation of data with reference to Business Unit/Plant/objectives and

Coordination of monthly financial closings.

Manages the Plant budgeting process to include forecasts, production plan, shipments, labor loads, cost reduction programs, capital investments, etc., and presentation. Assesses and highlights financial risk associated with such business plan.
