Key Accountabilities :  Advisory & Business Support :  - Advice plants and units about GST implications and Excise, Customs, Service Tax, VAT, Octroi, Entry Tax/ Local body taxes etc. related issues on regular basis.  - Interpretation of Indirect Tax Statutes supported by in-depth Research to substantiate correct tax positions in business matters.  - Examine & advice Company about amendments to the Indirect tax legislations, analysis of budget changes etc. and possible impact on business.   - Support plant/location teams in handling Excise, Service Tax & VAT issues.  - Replies to routine queries raised by revenue authorities  Indirect Tax Statutory Compliance :  - Carry out regular end to end IDT compliance health checks (from receipt of raw material to sale of finished goods to customers), with a view to identify risk and exposure areas, if any, and advise corrective action to ensure compliance.   - Undertake reviews and analyse systems and processes for improvement; analyse whether the key tax positions adopted with respect to indirect taxes are in accordance with law; identify areas of improvement.  Litigation Management :  - Handle litigation at all stages from Assessment level to Supreme Court effectively.  - Draft replies to notices, appeals and written submissions and file appeal/writs before Appellate Authorities, Tribunal, High Court & Supreme Court.   - Attend hearing before Adjudicating Authorities & Appellate forum.  - Prepare for the cases and brief Senior Counsels.  - Track and maintain database of litigation status of all pending cases and advise on contingent liabilities.  Classification :   - Examine and advise about Excise & VAT (GST) Classification and rate of tax on new products.  - Coordinate with R&D and business teams to analyse and understand the composition of new products to facilitate correct classification.  Training and Knowledge Sharing :   - Continuously update knowledge in indirect taxation and keep abreast of amendments in relevant Act/Rules & and developments in Case Law and proactively help business in these areas and offer solutions.  - Identify training needs of business and hold training sessions for stake holders to improve their understanding of tax laws / processes with a view to enhance compliance.  - Experience and Qualification :  BA LLB from reputed college.   - At-least 5-7 years of experience, post BA LLB, in Indirect tax area of law.
