Oracle - Quality Engineering Manager

Integrated Solutions QE organization is responsible for providing System level and Integration testing of all hardware (HW) and software (SW) products for Systems group within Oracle. The testing is focused on large and complex customer-like configurations which are tested under very heavy load and stress, and subjected to both HW and SW fault injections to ensure product is of high quality and ready to be released to the customers. Test coverage includes key areas such as Operating system, Networking, Storage I/O, Virtualization, Database, and select applications and benchmarks.

Firmware Sustaining and Solutions QE (FSSQE) group within the ISQE organization is responsible for providing test support for all new and released firmware products, as well as participating in Solutions testing for the large configs. The main focus areas for this testing includes install & upgrade, sysadmin functions, and usability, serviceability, and reliability testing of the products.

This position is being opened to fill a management position for FSSQE team in ISQE. Duties include managing a team of 8 to 10 engineers to provide technical leadership and guidance, managing projects within this team and with peer groups to ensure they are on track for schedules and quality, budgeting and forecasting of HW and headcount resources, attending multiple project and staff meetings, providing regular status reports to project teams and management, etc.

This position requires an experienced manager with strong background in software development and testing. The candidate must have working knowledge of Unix/Solaris Operating system and SPARC HW/Servers. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and must be able to work effectively with remote teams (peers and management) in multiple timezones. Duties involve working with international teams and some international travel.

Requirements include a BS/MS degree in Computer Engineering or related field with 10+ years of total experience that includes 5 or more years of managing a team of 6 or more employees. The candidate must be highly motivated and results oriented who can work independently, and has a proven track record of managing and leading technical teams.
