Purpose of the Job:
To acquire Online Merchants for:
- To enable ePay as the payment option for customers, on their site.
- To get deals for existing & new ePay wallet customers.
Span of Control: None
Key Responsibilities:
- Looking for a candidate who will be able to demonstrate expertise for merchant identification, acquisition, negotiation, on boarding process and on-going day to day management.
- The incumbent should be from banking acquiring / card segment / e-commerce handling merchant acquisition (online merchants) in the current role.
Key responsibilities:
Online merchant identification and negotiation:
- Use the existing databases and research tools / websites to identify the potential merchants.
- Identify the merchants with significant online visibility and substantial volumes on their portal.
- Leverage on existing clients of the group to identify the potential merchants.
- Responsible for shortlisting, negotiating and arriving at the commercial terms and conditions with merchants in conjunction with the Head - Sales and Marketing.
Online merchant acquisition and on-boarding:
- Finalise the standard list of the documents to be collected from merchants – design and define the procedures for submission of documents.
- Manage and adhere to SLA and other process related documents. Responsible to draft new processes in case any required for online merchants.
- Ensure that there is a detailed commercial agreement (covering details such as commercial details, SLAs including technical services, indemnity, confidential clause, etc.).
- Engage with payment gateways and work with technology/ IT team for system and product integration.
On-going day to day management activities:
- Ensure compliance to both internal and external policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure efficient process is in place for timely resolution of merchant query / complaints as per the defined timelines (TAT).
- Identify various online risks and fraud and responsible for Setting up risk mitigants, monitoring the risks, and continually creating new fraud checks and measures.
- Responsible to conduct spidering of the website using a web crawler to search for illegal/restricted products/services/content.
- Work in conjunction with IT and marketing team to ensure smooth integration solution with merchant website for merchants to access information such as product details, payment details, etc.
- Define the performance targets for various merchants basis the negotiations and expectation and ensure regular and timely monitoring of the performance targets to ensure minimal deviation and timely achievement.
- Monitor the performance of online merchant acquisition team and set performance target for the team.
Competencies / Skills:
- Create a framework for sustainable merchant sourcing, on-boarding strategy and process.
- Ensure merchant identification and on-boarding with the defined TAT.
- Zero incidents of online risks and fraud by implementing risk controls and utilizing effective online fraud tools.
- Responsible for generating revenues from merchants and ensuring adherence to performance targets.
- Ensuring the best possible commercial model while undertaking the process of merchant acquisition.
- Adhere to various regulatory and compliance rules on a timely basis.
Formal Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of overall experience in the payments business of which 2- 3 years should be in the online merchant acquisition / e-commerce space.
- Post Graduate (Preferred with a MBA or Masters in Marketing).
- Preferably from acquiring business (Internet / eCommerce) with experience in the entire merchant management life cycle - from identification to monitoring and merchant separation.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, sales experience would be an added advantage.
