ROLE DESCRIPTION

Designation: Associate Director / Senior Manager

Unit: Nielsen Watch Data Science

Location: Mumbai

JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the role:

The Data Science organization is at the core of Nielsen's market research methodologies. Data Science supports product & methodology enhancement, new product roll-outs, sample design, universe estimation and data fusion. Data Science also ensures our survey methodology and design are aligned with global standards and industry best practices.

This position will mainly focus on Nielsen's audience measurement product development, maintenance, and improvement. Nielsen applies state of art technique and methodology to TV/digital audience measurement product. The candidate will work with world class statisticians and methodologists on numerous industry lead projects. The work scope includes but not limited to survey/panel design, statistical model building, machine learning model construction, data analysis, prototype programming, and query investigation.

Main Accountabilities:

- Responsible for execution of universe estimation, survey weighting, data fusion and ensuring products are delivered on time and per specification.

- Assisting with rolling out new or enhanced services & ensure sustainability.

- Deliver analyses to support the implementation of standards and best practices.

- Consult with internal clients and provide expert technical consultation to solve complex data science related issues.

- Interact with Nielsen SMEs on new methodology implementation to enhance the quality of Nielsen statistical services.

- Develop and apply technology skills to improve business processes through automation and programming tools.

Primary Qualities Required:

- No less than 5-6 years of work experience in the survey research industry with hands on experience in developing and executing survey research methodologies (statistics, data analysis capability) or big data research

- Master preferred or Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Econometrics, Engineering or Computer Science with outstanding analytical expertise and strong technical leadership.

- Proficient in Microsoft tools, SAS, SPSS, R, Python or other statistical packages.

- Ability to use statistical methodologies to analyze data.

- Experience with working in a computing environment, with large datasets and able to integrate across datasets will be an advantage.

- The familiarity of the media industry in India would be an advantage.

- Strong ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way.

- Accuracy and attention to detail.

- Team player
