Purpose of Job / Key Objectives

Key duties of the role is to work in partnership with the contract operations and business finance teams to understand the business and its drivers to deliver timely, right first time reporting, planning and flawless transaction processing for a contract or group of contracts to support the Business finance teams in a strong controls and assurance environment and will involve delivering the finance and accounting activities defined in the finance operating model (FOM) and ensuring its compliance with quality as below:

Key duties of the role will require undertaking all activities defined in the finance operating model for a group of profit centers and ensuring its compliance with quality as below:

- Controller role for month and year end, ensuring all activities, up to and including the first narratives are completed which includes understanding and articulating the impact of the results

- Preparation, understanding of the purpose, and posting of journals from source data obtained from the contract operations teams, including standard journals, accruals, prepayments, recharge etc

- Responsible for the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and report preparation including review and understanding of trial balance and variance investigations.

- Preparation of specific monthly and year end management reports including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow analysis, accounting notes, trend and variance analysis including narratives and impact understanding

- Preparation and full understanding of the balance sheet reconciliations, including what makes up the balances, supporting documentation and analytical review from prior months

- Responsible for the model, baseline data and collection, analysis and first narratives for planning, budgeting and forecasting

- Responsible for all customer standard reporting and validation where contractual obligations allow

- Participating in Service Review Meetings and other business finance and contract operational calls when required e.g. flash calls, team calls

- Updating and maintaining best in class Knowledge Transfer documents, alongside the business finance teams

- Acts as the gatekeeper for the RTR process ensuring compliance with standard processes & controls

- Works across the SSC teams, understands the end to end for all processes and is the first point for questions from the contracts

- Delivers ad hoc analysis as required

Skills

- A qualified accountant (CA / CPA / ICWA) with 5 years of exp

- Prior experience of month end close and the reporting process including all activities up to first narrative which includes understanding the purpose of transactions before posting

- Comfortable obtaining source information from contract operational teams and proactively escalating when required

- Has the gravitas and ability to regularly communicate with, and challenge both finance and non-finance teams

- Is a proactive self-starter

- Good knowledge and practical use of IFRS, or reported previously in IFRS

- Ideally will have worked for a multinational company in a multicultural environment delivering services to European and / or US organizations

- Excellent SAP & BW (or equivalent) and MS office skills i.e. Excel, Word, PPT

- Must be fluent in verbal and written English (B2 voice minimum) with excellent verbal and written communication skills
