Job Title : Production Manager  Sector : Production  Department : Rolling Mill  Reports To : General Manager - Rolling Mills  Section : Production   Purpose of the Position :  - Responsible for the entire production activities in the mill to produce high quality standard products with high prime yield and to meet customer satisfaction. Achieve the production schedules as per the needs of the marketing department.   - To minimize the down time by timely planning for the pass changes and guides. Responsible for implementing Management strategies to meet the business goals of the company.  SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES :   - Wear required PPE and follow safe work practices at all times.  - Report, Investigate and monitor near misses / incidents in area of control, conducts and participate in all activities relating removal of hazards in your work area.  - Assist with identification of hazards arising from activities in work area, ensuring that all are communicated to relevant personnel in order to maintain a hazard free work area.  - Actively participate in implementation of Safety Policy by example and communication to subordinates.  - Provide an open means by which subordinates / subcontractors can communicate safety concerns, when possible action the items and when not ensure these are passed to personnel / sections for further actions.  - Identifying and evaluating potential / existing safety problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures.  - Report all process or other incidents that may cause Health & Environmental harm to the relevant personnel, regardless of severity.  - Following all Governmental and Company rules and management directives, regulations and policies that relate to Health & Environmental control and the meeting of departmental missions and objectives.  - Follow the procedures and instructions related to Health & Environmental Management Systems within the scope of the work area.  - Actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of the Health & Environmental Management Systems.  - Assist with the identification and evaluation of existing and potential Significant Health & Environmental Aspects within the workplace.  - Ensure that any roles and responsibilities identified in the Health & Environmental Management Systems responsibility matrix (RACI) are fully understood.  - Following all Governmental and Company rules and management directives, regulations and policies that relate to health, safety and the meeting of departmental missions and objectives.  - Ensuring the requirements of the Company's Quality System are complied with.  - Assist with the continual improvement of Quality System by implementing and participating in process improvement initiatives in relative areas.  - Identifying and evaluating quality problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures.  Detailed Duties & Responsibilities :  - Ensure smooth functioning of the production department.  - Inventory Control- To follow good operational practices and have close monitor on the spares procurement.  - Minimise and control delays and to be within the budgetary norms  - Ensure proper implementation of the rolling programs and pass schedule changes.  - Coordination with external agencies- Suppliers, Local Government authorities, outsourcing agencies & consultants.  - Implementing the management business strategies and have good relations with peers of other disciplines.  - Provide information on yearly forecast of the operational budget to the general manager.  - Explore for the developments in the latest rolling practices and implementing the same to improve the present process system.  - Implementation of Quality Systems/ISO  - Implementation of delay analysis recommendations to avoid repeated problems occurred in the mill.  - To organise trainings in house/outside for the subordinates for improving their technical competence.  - To ensure for safe operating practices for avoiding accidents during the production/ maintenance process.  - To have control on roll/guide consumption to meet the international standards.  - Liaison with the marketing department for customer complaints and taking remedial measures.  - Any other related jobs assigned by General Manager Rolling Mill  3. Supervision Exercised :  - Production Superintendents, Shift Engineers, Shift Supervisors/Leaders, Operators.  - Contractors as & when required.  - Minimum Requirements:  Qualifications & Training :  - Degree Certificate in Mechanical/Metallurgy Engineering from a recognized institute Have attended trainings in other sections mills.  Experience :  - Minimum 15 years of experience in long product rolling mill, preference is for the section mills from any other reputed rolling mills. Thorough knowledge in rolling process, roll pass design, mill setting, production planning.  - Identifying the potential issues in the production and close coordination with the logistic department for the dispatch of the finished products.  Skills :  - Supervisory and people management skills  - The drive to meet and beat stretching standards and goals  - The ability to approach problems and situations in a step-by-step way.  - The drive and the ability to support others in fulfilling their potential.  - The drive and the ability to provide direction and motivate others to achieve  - The drive and the ability to work with others to achieve shared goals.  Work Environment :  Exposed to conditions such as noisy, hot or dusty for 40-50% of the time intermittently.
