Position Title : Procurement Analyst  Division : Central Procurement Cell  Reports to : Group President (Commercial Strategy)   Location: Mumbai  Summary responsibilities :   - To conduct research and analysis across topics like market movements of commodities, identifying new sources for procurement, price trends, etc.  - Assess procurement risks - geographic, strategic, supplier risks  - Support category managers on delivering the cost targets and other objectives set for the category  - Develop an independent perspective on initiatives that can be taken across categories to optimize cost  Detailed responsibilities :   Perform market research :   - Analyst should locate and perform analysis on market and industry data for key categories of procurement  Supplier market dynamics : study key suppliers for the category, their strengths and weaknesses and potential negotiation points with them  Buyer market dynamics : Build competitive intelligence on other parties procuring the same commodity, their price dynamics etc.  - Forecast potential price trends through independent analysis as well as by building upon research reports  - Identify emerging trends in different categories like bundling, comprehensive management contracts, performance linked contracts etc.  - Create and maintain up to date category fact packs containing details of the above points  Assess procurement risks :  - The analyst should identify key risks in procurement of different categories  - Identify the scale potential impact of stockout of commodities and categorize them in terms of the same  - Identify and assess risks of stockout basis geographic, supply strategy related and supplier specific risks  Support category managers :  - Become familiar with internal category data - maintain the database consisting of supplier, commodity and user (plant, department, end product)  - Help build "should be" cost models wherever applicable  - Develops and maintains detailed cost model for the category  - Work with the buyer to develop savings hypotheses across supplier management, bundling, least cost country sourcing, technical improvements  - Develop analysis around hypotheses  - Build insight from the analysis and provide preliminary findings/recommendations to buyer  Cross category optimization :   - Become familiar with procurement practices in other categories  - Identify synergies and potential cross optimization opportunities  Required and Desired Skills :   Preferred Education :   - Bachelors in mechanical engineering/ metallurgy/ chemical engineering from a top class engineering institute  - MBA in general management/ finance/ operations from tier 1/tier 2 institutes [preferred but not critical]  Preferred Qualifications :   - 2-4 years of professional experience  - Experience in data analytics and dealing with big data sets like bill register etc.  - Advance knowledge of MS Excel - including creating complex cost models  - Basic knowledge of SAP, tools like MS Access, Tableu, Alteryx etc.  - Commodity research experience would be preferable
