Purpose of the job:
- Work as part of a team to deliver all Procurement functions (manage RFP process, Order Management, Vendor Management - supplier selection and relation management, etc., MIS / reporting)
- Provide input to the formulation of overall Procurement strategy
- Ensures alignment and compliance to procurement policies throughout the Corporation.
- Ensure that Procurement-related strategies and plans are effectively implemented, measured and reported on in area of responsibility.
Key Activities & Accountabilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Category Management
- Conduct strategic sourcing in accordance with business requirements
- Manage contract and supplier relationship management
- Ensure that suppliers and contracts comply with specific policies and are in line with Procurement’s strategic objectives
- Review and analyse purchasing techniques and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Effectively manage the vendor database (update supplier database information; advise buyers on supplier information)
- Periodic Vendor Evaluation
Policy and Governance:
- Educate and advise business and clients on purchasing and procurement guidelines and procedures
- Ensure that all sourcing and purchasing is conducted in line with Corporate policies
- Support and provide service to the Corporate Procurement Committee or any other relevant structures
Sustainable Development:
- Contribute to the delivery of sustainable development initiatives (e.g. procurement from historically disadvantaged persons)
- Support historically disadvantaged persons imperatives and initiatives
Project Management:
- Take accountability for the delivery of Procurement-related initiatives
- Ensure the proactive delivery of projects in alignment with the Corporate Procurement strategy
- Report on all procurement activities that falls within scope of responsibility
Knowledge Sharing and Mentoring:
- Participate in the mentoring and coaching of team members
- Empower and share knowledge and best practice with all internal and external stakeholders
- Provide input to the development of team members
Performance Management and Delivery:
- Commitment towards delivery of best in class service
- Bear accountability for performance and delivery of projects
- Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders
- Coordinate work with internal customer departments to resolve all issues relevant to the supplier or products/services requirements

Minimum qualifying criteria:
- Have the minimum of a relevant three year tertiary qualification (Supply chain management, Purchasing etc)
- The incumbent must be prepared and willing to work overtime on short notice
Minimum work experience: At least 6+ years experience in the following:
- Experience in procurement and / or Supply Chain Management.
- Have knowledge of any ERP system.
- Knowledge and experience of Strategic Sourcing Methodology
- Have in depth knowledge on analysis and statistics
- Be proactive, accurate, able to work independently and have real sense of urgency
- Have good written and verbal communication skills;
- Have sound report writing and problem solving skills.
- Good knowledge and application of relevant legislative framework (e.g. national treasury guidelines, preferential procurement etc.)
- Expertise in managing major contracts, supplier relationships and the supply chain
