Group Entity: Global Banking and Markets  Role Title : Associate/Analyst  Business/Function & Location :  (Country/Department) Markets Front Office, Bangalore  Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role) :  - Support the BRCM team and the business managers in the maintenance and upload of items into ORION, the Group's operational risk management tool and AID, the database tracker for Audit items  - Assist with the annual Risk and Control Assessment refresh process and attend the workshop meetings   - Produce regular as well as adhoc reports/meeting packs/updates/ at the request of management, showing the status of items in ORION and AID  - Work closely with the BRCM team and business managers to ensure all issues/actions, risks and controls are captured and managed in line with operational risk framework  - Build the Internal Control Monitoring Plans for businesses within Global Markets in order to review and test effectiveness of key controls  - Challenge effectiveness of controls and priority of risks as part of risk the risk assessment refresh process  Principal Accountabilities : Key activities and decision making areas :   Impact on the Business/Function :   - Assist Front Office Business Managers/Control Officers in the maintenance and control of items into ORION, the Group's Operational Risk management tool and AID. (Risk Assessments, Issue and Actions, Incident/losses, Internal Control Monitoring Plans).   - BCC - Collation of data: preparation of common packs; continuous improvement of inbound data through negotiation with data providers as well as outbound pack quality.   - In collaboration with the Risk, Control and Support functions BRCM coordinate a Front to Back ICMP for BCCs  - Production of weekly/monthly Issue and Actions report. Ensuring that actions plans have been remediated and items are closed in timely manner.   - Conduct Pack production.  - Assist in developing and implementing best practice and Global Standards across Markets  - Assurance Testing - Execute the Internal Control Monitoring Plans (ICMP) & testing scripted programme on behalf of the business to ensure key risks are identified and associated gaps are reduced  - Team Admin. Management of Holiday booker, central comms management, share point administration.  - Work closely with the system owners (Operational Risk and Audit teams) to highlight any functionality or performance issues.  - Other specific projects or tasks related to these topics as directed by management   Typical Targets and Measures :  - Publishing accurate ad-hoc reports/meeting packs/updates  - Ensure delivery of projects by the team as per the pre-defined timelines and proactively manage work priorities   Customers / Stakeholders:  - Markets COO Community including Regional and Asset Class COOs and associated Business Managers, Operational Risk Team.   - Feedback from Key Markets stakeholders  - Ability to drive change with global asset class COOs & business managers  Customers / Stakeholders:  - Markets COO Community including Regional and Asset Class COOs and associated Business Managers, Operational Risk Team.   - Feedback from Key Markets stakeholders  - Ability to drive change with global asset class COOs & business managers  Leadership & Teamwork :  - Responsible for ensuring seamless communication and teamwork between Control resources in Onshore locations and counterpart resources in Bangalore  - Builds strong relationships with counterpart resources in Onshore locations  - Feedback from Key Markets stakeholders  - Ensure stakeholder satisfaction through timely delivery of quality work  Operational Effectiveness & Control :  - Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver Control Function responsibilities  - Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across the Markets Control Office together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise  - Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels  - Proactively identify and mitigate control gaps  - Process improvement initiatives   Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder's abilities) :   - First offshoring of Markets Front Office roles so strong support and guidance will be required for the business  - A rapidly changing regulatory environment with extensive impacts on the Markets businesses  - A high risk and sensitive set of functions potentially to be offshored so it is critical there is no negative business or client impact  - Increasing focus on business continuity delivery  - Availability of appropriate resources and conflicting priorities across the business  Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority) :   By the end of 2015 the GBM footprint across the GSCs will be over 7000 FTE across 7 centers and 6 countries. The Service Centers will be supporting all business lines within GBM including Markets, HSS and Banking. Within the GBM Service Centre responsibility is also some of the global functions support for the businesses including for example Wholesale and Traded Risk.   The Markets Front Office roles need to be integrated in to the wider GBM Service Centre structure whilst ensuring appropriate segregation with an effective support structure both within Markets as well as the wider GBM and HOST structures.   Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) :   - Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.  - Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank Plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.  Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) :  - Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.  - Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.  Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.) :  - Previous experience in an operational risk or internal control team advantageous   - Motivated and dynamic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to urgent requests  - Ability to work closely with team members and collaborate with colleagues globally  - Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint  - Confident and comfortable with reporting tools and databases, able to quickly to learn new systems  - Strong organisational and time management skills, with a structured, organised approach to work  - Good written and verbal communication skills  - Able to interact in a professional manner at all levels in the organisation.  - Prior experience in Audit, Business Management or Risk/Control roles within a Markets business  - Work or academic experience in a major onshore hub / country  - Robust track record in dealing with a diverse and international group of stakeholders  - Good communication, negotiation / influencing and presentation skills
