Role Purpose   To support the Corporate Analysis teams by providing a variety of data processing and high quality credit analysis services.  Principal Accountabilities Key activities and decision making areas  - Impact on the Business: To undertake complex industry, competitor and client level analysis of financial documentation and supplemental data to support lending decision-making and recommending credit requests to appropriately meet business needs   Customers (External / Internal): To provide technical advice and assist Sector Teams onshore Leadership & Team work   - To pro-actively suggest and design improvements in process workflow   - Operational Effectiveness & Control :To understand and comply with all relevant policies and procedures issued by the Group and contained within the Group Standards Manual and relevant Functional Instruction Manuals, Desk Instruction Books and Process Guides. Also to adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; reporting control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events. To be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and to ensure that all actions take into account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring  - Compliance :To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators  - To implement the Group compliance policy   Major Challenges :  The nature of the role requires:  - To analyze operating trends, financial rations, debt service capacity, liquidity and overall credit risk for conclusion and recommendation  - To interact periodically with onshore business partners  Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)  The Role requires the Analyst to be a part of Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) team in Kolkata which supports UK, US, France, Hong Kong, Middle East and Japan. In addition the Analyst would also be required to liaise with the business and locally with the supporting Departments which would enable him/her to carry out the duties.  Primary Responsibilities will include the following activities:  - Undertaking complex industry, competitor and client level analysis, as and when required. The analysis work might include complex transactions requiring structured credit facilities.  - Providing technical advice and assisting Sector Teams onshore, as needed.  - Adhering to internal processes for quality and delivering required throughput of high quality credit reviews on time.  - Interacting periodically with onshore business partners, and other stakeholders, as required.  However, depending on the experience, skill and competence, he or she can be given additional responsibilities  Management of Risk :  To abide by the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant Compliance Department. The term compliance embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to apply.  To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies.
