HGS - Data Science & Machine Learning Professional

Educational background and Experience:-

- PhD or Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Science with Relevant experience in the field of Advanced Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, and Algorithms.

Industry Experience preferable for each of the above qualifications :

Ph.D. - around 1 years

Others - 3-10 years

Ideal Profile:

- The Data Scientist is expected to play a pivotal bridging role between data scientists, technology specialists, and the business /functional experts.

- The Data Scientist will develop statistical and machine learning models on distributed platforms such as Hadoop by using modern machine learning libraries such as SparkML, Shogun, Mahout and OpenNLP.

- The Data Scientist will be responsible for developing advanced predictive /prescriptive systems, creating efficient algorithms for business problem solving, improving data quality

- Experience with industry scale data mining and/or text mining and Machine Learning.

- The candidate should also be proficient in converting the algorithmic proof of concepts into business requirement documents for product development.

- Innovative and strong analytical and algorithmic problem solvers

- Ensure execution of critical Advanced Analytical projects, including driving innovative implementation and insights derived from data.

- Excellent critical thinking skills, combined with the ability to present complex analytical solutions to a non-technical audience.

- Comfort in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from varying sources.

- Should be very good team player and able to provide technical and subject area guidance/directions to the peer.

- The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience in Healthcare, BFSI, Consumer, Retail, Telecom, Transportation, Utilities is an added advantage.

Technical Skills:-

- Proficiency in R, Matlab, Python, SAS, Ruby or Scala or equivalent statistical analysis software.

- Experience with big data tools is a plus (e.g., Hadoop, HDFS, Cassandra, Storm)

- Experience with industry scale data mining and/or text mining.

- Experience with capturing, managing, and processing Big Data (terabytes of data present in web logs, documents, etc).

- Familiarity with relational databases (SAP HANA, Oracle, MySQL) and non-relational databases like MongoDB or Hadoop, query tools (e.g. Hive or Pig) and tools for distributed computation (e.g. Spark).

- Knowledge of software development technologies is a plus (e.g. Python, Java, C/C++, .Net)

- The candidate should also be proficient in converting the algorithmic proof of concepts into products.

- Knowledge in Data Warehouse and BI concepts.
