Head - Operations  Our client organisation is Founded in the year 1973 and is a Group listed on the London Stock Exchange focused on delivering outstanding educational products and services that help teachers to teach and learners to learn. The Group comprises of four distinct divisions. One of this division focuses on delivering an extensive range of innovative and award-winning products and services, all carefully designed and selected to meet the specific needs of UK education.  The captive unit in India was established in 2003 as the offshore unit to provide development and customer support from India. The Education Operations division implements and supports solutions and services for customers across all of the business. The team operates through multiple channels to enhance the customer experience and support the growth of the business by increasing efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided.  The Operations teams include technical support, infrastructure hosting and support and business services.   The Head of Operations reports to the CEO, India and is accountable for improving efficiencies. The individual will work closely with the respective functions in the UK.  Job Purpose :  - The principle purpose of the job holder's role is to lead the India based elements of the Education operations and ensure that the Division's objectives are being met through continuous improvement of the activities carried out from here and contribution to Division- wide initiatives.   - They will manage a programme of project deliverables critical to the Division's success and be the senior point of interface on all project related matters with stakeholders.   - The job holder will be a major contributor to division wide change initiatives. They will be expected to be a leading contributor and be regarded as a peer by their UK counterparts.   - To do that they will need to be an excellent communicator and influencer, experienced process manager and be flexible to travel to the UK. In addition, they will be a strong people manager who coaches and develops their team leaders to create a continuous culture of improvement.   - They will have an inherent desire to build highly performing teams and adapt those teams to deliver maximum business value. The role will interface with many parts of the Division and Group.  - The individual will also be part of the Senior Management Team and be responsible to ensure that the contribution to the Group is significant.  Main Responsibilities :  - Business Transformation - Devise and lead appropriate business change and transformation, demonstrating sound commercial judgement and strong stakeholder engagement.  - Wholly responsible for leading and increasing the capability of the team and for recruiting and developing high performing resources which will make the company a compelling option for the group  - Deliver operational excellence ensuring robust processes and systems are in place.  - People development - develop the capability of functional heads and their staff, motivate them in the pursuit of the companies goals  - Programme and project delivery   - Stakeholder relationships - be a valued senior manager across the Group  - Challenging owners on end to end processes to make improvements in how the group operates  - Ensuring that appropriate Key Performance Indicators (- KPIs- ) are agreed, communicated and met, with interventions made where performance shows signs of deteriorating  - Member of the Indian senior management team - valued member of the group SM team  - Accountable for the choice of processes, working practices and technical environment which underpin successful achievement of objectives.  - Responsible for achieving and maintaining appropriate International standards  - Responsible for positive outcomes from the both the projects delivered and engagement with a global customer base  - Responsible to identify and move opportunities of delivering more value from India and ensure this leads to operational efficiency and cost reduction.  Knowledge, Skills & Experience :  - Ability to influence at Group Executive level through understanding of different business models, expertise in management of Operational teams and strong influencing skills to steer solutions and conflicts of priorities without full authority to mandate approaches  - Experience in leading, managing and motivating technical and functional people dispersed across geography and with different cultures. Must have worked with US/UK or European stakeholders in the past.  - Proven strategic and tactical/operational management capability. Must have the ability to progress into a more senior role.  - Must have a stock of experience related to implementing improvement projects with good examples of the importance of the role they played in the exercise  - Solid management and project management skills, including a track record of recruiting, managing and developing talent.  - Demonstrable drive, energy and passion with an appetite for change and experience of successfully leading change. This person must be a team player who is able to bring in new ideas, and deliver them.  - Knowledge of technical and functional operational best practices.   - Overall, this person must be comfortable with the process of continuous improvement and the resulting challenges of change which result.
