About Our Client: Our client is a leading investment bank.

Job Description:

The role is charged with day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Firm's compliance with core regulatory requirements covering Investment Banking.

In particular, this role is responsible for providing legal support, with limited supervision, to the front-office transaction teams' day-to-day interactions with clients and potential clients, monitoring activities which require legal input and ensuring that timely and appropriate advice and supervise the internal legal staff and external legal resources.

- Draft, review and comment on legal documents frequently used in daily business, such as confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, financial advisory agreements, sponsorship agreements, underwriting agreements, syndicate agreements, etc.;

- Establishing themselves as one of the key points of contact for the Firm's relationship with SEBI and other regulators ;

- Provide sound and timely legal advice and pro-active support to all business divisions and functional areas on business initiatives and issues to help the Company achieve market leadership in a legal and compliant manner;

- Support senior management of the Company in identifying, monitoring and managing franchise risks of the Company;

- Actively participate in legal review of various documents to be submitted to the SEBI or other regulators in relation to the Company's investment banking business;

- Provide legal support and counsel on identified legal and compliance concerns/issues in connection with onshore capital market transactions (such as IPOs, bond offerings and M&As) sponsored, underwritten and/or advised by the Company;

- Supervising and managing external legal counsel and legal expenditure; and

- Perform all general duties and work expected of an in-house legal counsel

The Successful Applicant:

- LLB/LLM degree from a reputable Indian university; a law degree from an overseas law school is preferable but not required;

- 8+ years or more post qualification legal practice, preferably with experience on SEBI/ onshore capital markets transactions (such as IPOs and domestic bond offerings;

- Admitted to practice law in India; admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction is preferable but not required;

- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior management in the business;

- Proactive and responsive; and Practical approach with a "can do" attitude.
