General Manager - Controls & Compliance - Manufacturing

This is a key position in the Controllership function to provide internal control oversight and support to the operating units within the group.

- This position will report to the Head of Financial Control with strong levels of interaction with key stakeholders across the business to ensure the optimum design and operation of the group's financial controls.

- Future career progression could include heading the function if the right person is found (and who is interested in progressing in this area in preference to other Finance verticals which are also an option).

Responsibilities will include :

- To serve as the Internal Controls Design and Development specialist for the group. This includes, but not limited to:

- Risk identification and risk rationalisation;

- Process flow and narrative development and maintenance;

- Internal controls integration;

- Advising on the design and implementation of controls;

- Mitigation of risk, remediation of control deficiencies or design gaps;

- Determine the propriety and efficiency of the existing control structure and identify ways to streamline and automate controls

- Develop and launch a global Financial Controls & Procedures Manual

- Sell- the changes to the existing systems coming out of the above Manual, in different markets (countries) where this represents an improvement of controls replacing or refining current practices

- Recommend operational efficiency and improvements to working practices and financial controls as a result of internal and external audit findings

- Actively support reviews of new process and systems initiatives from a controls perspective

- Facilitate sharing and dissemination of best practice, including bringing in of global best practice and BPs from previous employer companies

- Development and delivery of training on financial controls to the business

- Input into ad hoc projects

Education and experience requirements :

- ACA qualified with 8+ years post qualification experience; Big 4 work experience or qualification through Big4 is an added advantage but if key MNC manufacturing industry is there it can be ignored (there can be good candidates who have mfg MNC controls design & implementation experience without the Big4 exposure on their cv)

- Minimum of 6-7 years of relevant experience working in internal controls and internal audit

- Experience working with manufacturing companies is preferred

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities :

- SOX (Sarbanes Oxley compliances required for US listed companies) environment -

- Experience in designing SOX controls and - selling- it within an manufacturing MNC type organisation

- Strong communication skills and an ability to influence a range of stakeholders

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply judgment to provide efficient and effective solutions

- A self-starter that is able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels throughout the company

- Excellent presentation and writing skills

- Experience in using SAP will be advantageous

Location : [Bangalore], with some overseas travel required

- To implement through using influencing skills these controls across all units globally - here key stakeholder influence/management is vital

- Have good judgment in influencing market FDs/MDs, accounting teams to replace legacy practices with key controls

- Have executive presence to deal with FDs/MDs and other senior management across the globe
