Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

GM (Accounts and Compliance) will be responsible for Oversight of Client's Finance & Accounting, Compliance and Reporting activities. As the number-two executive to the CFO, this position will also be involved in supporting presentations (of Budget vs Actual, Grant Commitment, and Disbursal update) to the internal stakeholders - members of Client's senior leadership team and the Board.

He/she will lead all day-to-day finance operations of client and supervise the core accounting team including the functional responsibility of accounts payable, payroll, employee reimbursements, grant disbursals, periodic funds projection and engagement with central endowment team, submission of utilization report to the parent organization for draw down of funds.

He/she will ensure that the client has the processes and procedures in place to support and deliver effective functioning of these periodic operations as well as lead and close statutory audit for the client.

He/she will work closely with finance business partner as well as program staff to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and also with CFO to explore how the core finance & accounts function of our partner organizations can be strengthened systematically for efficient and effortless fund utilization reporting.

Responsibilities-

- Oversee Tally (books of accounts, ledgers) and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards and local regulatory requirements.

- Maintain internal control and safeguards for core accounting activities - draw down of funds from endowment/disbursal of funds to partner organizations, expense booking, and payments etc.

- Coordinate to lead and close all audit activities, an assessment with tax authorities, review and finalize financial reporting for all statutory requirements.

- Hands on with client's other reporting systems (Fluxx Enterprise, Employee self-service tool for claim reimbursement etc.)

- Periodically review and analyze books of accounts, present / communicate financial reports in an accurate and timely manner - quarterly, half yearly, annual actual spend vs budget for client's operating cost; report on progress and changes to Grant Commit and Disbursal of the client. Identify, analyze and report variances as emerging for informed reporting from both the reports.

- Steer the annual budgeting and planning process for client's operating speed;

- Work closely to support in steering the project plan of strengthening core Finance & Accounts function of our partner organizations systematically for efficient and effortless fund utilization reporting.

- Lead/liaison with bank representatives for client's banking operational needs.

- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting, work with central endowment team for submission of utilization statement to endowment for draw down of funds

Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a mature leader with 10 - 14 years of working experience; CA and/or ICWA preferred with core accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and/or audit, followed by experience in gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams, senior leadership team. Experience in a complex operating organization that has multiple business units/programs will be preferred though not mandatory.

Specific requirements include:

- Leverage strengths of the current accounting team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to client's mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for finance and accounts.

- Solid experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development, and analysis, management of accounts payable, payroll, general ledger and accounting for investments

- A track record in grants management will be considered good as it can be a valuable contribution to the project plan of strengthening core finance & accounts function of our partner organizations systematically as well as support their growth / scale up if need be.

- Technology savvy with experience in selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software

- Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data points.

- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
