Engineering Manager at Hyderabad

- An organisation has an immediate opening for a Engineering Manager to be based at Hyderabad

- This will be a fairly Sr position within the hierarchy of the organisation and will handle small team comprising of 10-15 members.

- Incumbents must be hand on with Open source Tech, strong skills on Java, J2ee, JSF .

- Strong product development experience a must, preferably in Healthcare domain.

Engagement Overview:

- Technology Engineering is a product engineering centric organization, which focuses on development of healthcare products using PDLM & other prevailing industry standard techniques.

- An information and technology-enabled Health Service Platform Our goal: help make the health care system work better for everyone

- Backed by the resources of UnitedHealth Group, but not a health insurance provider

- Works with multiple payers: UHC, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, healthfirst, Amerigroup & BCBS

Responsibilities:

- Supervise up to seven software developers, including offshore contractors.

- Manage several simultaneous agile product development projects through the full lifecycle. Track user stories and defects.

- Ensure development process is followed.

- Report project status to peers, executives, and customers.

- Collaborate with Product Managers and Account Managers to define project scope, schedule, and resources.

- Organize peer reviews for designs, code, and other work products.

- Enforce quality standards including: code conventions, unit testing, static analysis, revision control.

- Coordinate with QA/QC staff for product functional and system testing.

- Recommend product, process, and tooling improvements.

- Manage staff training plans and mentor direct reports for career development.

- Conduct annual employee reviews for direct reports.

- Recruit and interview new employees.

Requirements:

- Minimum 10 years' experience developing commercial products, web applications, or services used by external customers.

- Minimum 5 years' experience managing employees and projects.

- Thorough understanding of agile software development methodology (Scrum) and industry best practices.

- Certified ScrumMaster, PMI PMP, Test Driven

- Development (TDD) experience, and rally experience are pluses.

- Thorough understanding of fundamental software engineering and computer science principles: object-oriented design, structured design,databases, algorithms, data structures, usability, refactoring, debugging, and configuration management.

- Excellent design and problem solving skills.

- Thorough understanding of service oriented architecture (SOA) concepts.

- Thorough understanding of application security issues, including common web application exploits.

- Disciplined, engineering oriented mind set.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation
skills.

Strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of: Java/JSE/J2EE/JSF, JBoss Application Server, IBM DB2, IBM Lotus Domino,XML, XSLT, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, TCP/IP, HTTP, SOAP, HL7, LDAP, SQL, XQuery, Maven.

Formal training and/or certification in any of those tools and technologies a plus.

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in a technical or business field a plus.
