DIRECTOR – COMPLIANCE  We have been retained by our client, a well established, professionally managed, multi-billion dollar group with multiple foreign affiliations, in the process of setting up a bank to identify a DIRECTOR- COMPLIANCE. The position will be based at Mumbai.  JOB PURPOSE  - To define the compliance strategy for Bank’s Products, Services, Finance and Company affairs and steering the Bank through the implementation of the strategy.  - To set up compliance policy, guidelines, practices and procedures that meet the requirements of all governing regulatory bodies.  - Make a significant contribution to the Compliance Strategic Vision of being an Independent Guardian by setting appropriate standards for Compliance risk assessments.  - Conduct effective, objective, risk-based Compliance Monitoring in order to:  1. Provide assurance that the Bank is in compliance with regulatory requirements and Bank policies and expectations.  2. Provide a broad and holistic assessment of the regulatory systems and controls environment within the Bank.  3. Continuously inform regulatory risk assessments and in turn Compliance Monitoring Programmes through the results of monitoring conducted.  - Identify weaknesses in Compliance systems and controls and propose improvements :  1. Highlight real and potential regulatory deficiencies to the banks stakeholders in order to assist in reducing the risk of public or private regulatory censure or other sanctions against the Bank  2. Identify and remedy any behaviour or activity that may have a detrimental effect on the Bank’s customers  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   1. Undertake Compliance Monitoring reviews across a variety of the banks businesses.   2. Take an active role in embedding the revised approach to Compliance Monitoring across the bank, whilst ensuring continuous development and improvement of effective Compliance Monitoring protocols.  3. Implement the bank’s Compliance Monitoring Plan in accordance with the Compliance Monitoring Methodology, including:  a. Facilitate effective regulatory risk assessments.  b. Interpret Compliance Monitoring Programmes into an organised and risk-based work schedule to ensure effective use of resources.  c. Execute objective monitoring reviews in conjunction with Compliance colleagues where necessary, through effective liaison with Business stakeholders, a variety of fieldwork approaches, production of quality, focussed reports, and comprehensive record keeping of work undertaken.  4. Collaborate with the various Compliance stakeholders, to ensure satisfactory completion of Monitoring activities.  5. Share best practice and learnings with Monitoring colleagues.  6. Foster close co-operation between and develop excellent working relationships with various Risk and Compliance stakeholders, including Audit & Assurance.   7. Assess whether Compliance policies and procedures are embedded and operating effectively.  8. Proactively keep abreast of changes in regulation and legislation, industry best practices, and changes to business activities and products, through self-managed learning and relationships with Compliance colleagues and business networks.  9. Increase the profile of Compliance within the bank through the identification and escalation of potential or actual regulatory risks in order to protect and enhance the reputation of the bank and to avoid significant financial loss to the bank or its customers.  10. Promote best practices in Compliance matters to relevant Business stakeholders, gaining buy-in for Monitoring activities through excellent working relationships.  KEY ATTRIBUTES  - Knowledge of Compliance and regulatory matters  - Strong analytical skills  - A disciplined approach to Planning, Execution and Tracking of issues to resolution  - Strong team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues.   - Excellent communication skills for documenting and explaining Findings  - Strong influencing skills for obtaining buy-in to resolve Findings   - Drive and enthusiasm  - A positive, “can do” attitude  Ideal candidates must be qualified Chartered Accountants or Company Secretaries with a degree in Law and with 10 to 15 years experience.  Interested candidates meeting with the above requirements may please respond with a recent photograph and resume in word format
