I. Job Summary:  The principle purpose of the Director of Analytic Data Operations is to use data and technology capabilities to enable enterprise analytics. This is accomplished by managing a team that works with analytic teams to plan data and capability needs, build processes and tools to stand up solutions for these needs, run timely processes to fulfill these needs, syndicate methods, metrics and reports for wider distribution, administer tools, capabilities and processes for solicitation, analytics and syndication reporting and maintain sandbox/mid-tier data, hierarchies and processes.   The Director of Analytic Data Operations will have primary responsibility for managing Lowe’s sandbox/mid-tier environment for analytics in the persistent data warehouse and the exploratory data warehouse, for syndicated management reporting using Microstrategy, TM1 and SQL Reporting Services and for managing solicitation and forecast processes using TM1.   In addition, the Director of Analytic Data Operations will work closely with leadership across IT, Master Data Content Management (MDCM), and Measure & Evaluate to identify areas of opportunity or enhancement in analytic data operations and develop strategic and tactical roadmaps aimed at making data processes more cost effective and efficient. This role must remain knowledgeable of current industry trends in the analytics space and be able to critically evaluate Lowe’s data operation standards and processes and communicate any modifications or recommendations that are in the best interest of all impacted stakeholders.   II. Essential Responsibilities:   Planning and Roadmapping :  - Works with IT to develop a data operations strategy and roadmap that supports Enterprise Analytics  - Understands and helps drive innovations, changes and advancements in persistent data warehouses and discovery data warehouse  - Plans for data integration and analytic opportunities between US Home Improvement (USHI), Allied and International business units  - Plans data and analytic needs for each analytic project in advance and delivers on schedule  Data Management :  - Maintains governance and integrity on production metrics used for management reporting (i.e. sales, margin, inventory, etc.)  - Maintains Lowe’s production and planning hierarchy models for selling location, product, accounting chart of accounts, and overhead departments for forecasting and reporting including updating the hierarchy with any changes in a timely manner  - Ensures hierarchies and production metrics are always current in all analytic tools  - Ensures data feeds and ETL jobs are timely and accurate within all analytic tools  - Manages data accuracy by following standards and protocols and quickly responds to discrepancies while also documenting processes taken to correct issues   Develop and Maintain Analytic Tools and Capabilities :  - Works with stakeholders to define needs and assess current capabilities   - Develops and works with IT to implement a technology architecture that supports the required analytic capabilities  - Delivers tools and capabilities that enable world class analytics, meet business needs, provide a seamless user experience, are sustainable, and have the flexibility to keep pace with future demands  - Works with IT to ensure current production tools are available, accessible, and accurate; immediately responds to customer issues and removes roadblocks  - Communicates regularly and timely with the user community to remain cognizant of any issues or changing requirements  - Improves current processes by evaluating effectiveness of tools and quality of results, assessing future needs and best practices in the industry, and recommending new systems and tools for Lowe’s  - Provides creative thinking on data operations, data linkages, techniques, and mechanical data efficiencies by staying informed on new technologies and data sources.  Ensure Process Efficiency :  - Identifies the technology and techniques that provide the most efficient process implementation  - Develops key success measures and service level agreements (SLAs) for critical processes  - Synthesizes information obtained from IT, MDCM, and Measure & Evaluate to determine key opportunities for efficiency in data operations  - Leads a team with responsibility to ensure success of processes and tools in all lifecycle phases - development through realization   Syndicated Reporting :  - Develops a reporting strategy that meets information needs while rationalizing and organizing the Lowe’s performance reporting landscape  - Ensures syndicated reports are accessible and accurate at required deadlines and perform within standard SLAs  - Works with business stakeholders to identify metrics and reporting requirements  - Develops dashboards and reports that are simple, informative, and enable a dynamic user experience  - Works with IT and team members to improve reporting technology and data processes  Business Leadership :  - Drives the development and realization of projects related to Enterprise Analytics  - Obtains, organizes, and aligns resources to complete multiple business objectives focused on the organization’s strategy  - Develops Managers by helping them set the appropriate priorities and removing barriers and obstacles.  - Engages external consulting resources as needed and negotiates vendor contracts  - Delivers positively to measures of success for the business unit and company by maintaining a strong focus on the bottom line  - Provides employees a direct line of sight as to how they affect the business, translating strategy from Executives and communicating daily business requirements  People Leadership :  - Obtains resources for the Enterprise Analytics team and distributes them among the units driving or supporting the most significant contributions to Measure & Evaluate  - Ensures meaningful development opportunities for individuals in the organization so that the right people are being developed in preparation for succession opportunities  - Motivates team to perform at high levels and embrace change around a shared company vision  - Focuses the business unit on the needs of the customer and sets goals that strive to exceed the customer’s expectations  - Hires, trains and develops the talent necessary to achieve stated business goals  Self-Leadership :  - Interacts frequently with senior leadership delivering messages that are tailored to the recipient and effectively communicate the right message, at the right time for action to occur  - Stays current with industry trends related to Measure & Evaluate and focuses on how these trends can influence and support company strategy  - Solves complex problems using multiple problem solving tools and techniques to generate fact-based solutions, delegating tactical problems to managers, as needed  III. The analytic data operations landscape is constantly evolving with technologies that enable big data usage and more efficient ways of doing business intelligence reporting and analytics. Director of Analytic Data Operations will need to stay on the forefront of these new capabilities and with IT to manage our longer term strategic roadmap for Data Strategy and Analytics. Director of Analytic Data Operations will need to be an advocate and driver of data and analytic needs and not reactive or passive to others leading those decision (or inactivity).   - Additionally, Director of Analytic Data Operations will be challenged with balancing current needs of syndicated reporting and keeping our mid-tier environment fresh and not cluttered. Process documentation and roles of engagement with IT on production requests will be a large part of this role. In addition, setting and meeting the time, accessibility and accuracy expectations of analytic users will be a key opportunity.   - Director of Analytic Data Operations will need to work collaboratively across many teams including IT, MDCM, Measure and Evaluate, Risk Management/ Governance Councils, Accounting, Lowe’s Canada, other Allied Business Units and internally to accomplish all these responsibilities.   AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:  - Hiring and developing teams to meet the data analysis, forecasting, and reporting needs of Enterprise Analytics, USHI, and Allied businesses  - Establishing an intake and prioritization process for incoming requests  - Evaluating and selecting appropriate tools and technology to support the forecasting process for USHI and Canada  - Creating a collaboration model between the data operations group and IT, MDCM, and others  - Developing methods for evaluating the success of the data operations group  - Establishing a documentation process for the data operations group, ensuring artifacts are current and discoverable  Qualifications : 	 Required Minimum Qualifications:  - Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Finance, Engineering or related field plus 8 years of experience or 11+ years of experience in a data operations capacity where technical skills were used to meet business needs  - 5+ years of experience leading the development of financial, data analysis, and reporting tools using a mix of technologies  - 5+ years experience translating business requirements into technical solutions   - 5+ years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility   - 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams   - Demonstrated experience working closely with senior leadership (VP and above)  - 5+ years with IBM Cognos or other OLAP tools, application development tools, BI tools, data integration, SDLC, etc.  - 5+ years of project management experience and a demonstrated ability to work productively with business partners  - Demonstrated ability to stay current on the technology and data landscape  Preferred Qualifications:  - Masters degree in a business or technical field  - 5+ years experience in programming and web development
