Chief Technology Officer - Travel eCommerce

Reporting - CEO / Group CIO

The CTO will have overall responsibility for the technical strategy of the firm and she/he will have to ensure it meets the needs of the business as it expands. She/he will have the mandate to build the firm's technical architecture and systems that can scale up to support continued growth, to define architecture for new products, incubate technologies for future expansion and evangelize technical capabilities.

- Develop the vision and road map of organization's technology strategy. Lead the architecture and execution of it.

- Be abreast with the latest front end/user end technology in the ecommerce mobile platform space.

- Must effectively hold, develop, articulate, and continually evolve the company's strategic technical direction to support growth.

- Lead all aspects of technology & product development in line with the company's strategic direction

- Identify new technology trends and keep an eye on consumer's evolving behavior in electronic and mobile commerce.

- Work in a consultative fashion with the CEO, and other department heads, such as digital marketing, production and operations as an advisor of technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

- Create & deliver the technology & product roadmap to deliver the most awesome customer & stakeholder experiences

- Align the IT vision with the overall business strategy of the organization

- Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and make determinations on the probability of implementation

- Lead strategic planning and prioritization exercise across different functions for IT projects, resulting in visible milestones and delivery timelines.

- Establish risk and governance processes. Ensure safety and security of company data and user's privacy information.

- Ensure that latest technology standards of ecommerce and best practices are maintained across the organization.

- Share and communicate company's technology strategy with partners, management, investors and business stakeholders.

- Develop, plan and control development and infrastructure related annual IT budget.

- Develop front-end features used by travel agencies and travel websites

- Coordinate front-end requirements with backend developers and product manager, but also push your own UX roadmap

- Contribute to, and improve, our Frontend Code Framework. Develop, document, consume and support maintainable, reusable UI components with a multi-market & multi-language platform vision in mind

- Find and address performance issues on front-ends

- Drive design and code reviews

- Lead and manage a top-notch engineering teams.

Experience

- At least more than 10 years of proven experience in building complex, large scale internet based systems using user interface technology.

- Must have experience in web development technologies.

- Must have experience in e-commerce preferably in travel retail

- Experience in scaling up ecommerce business will be a big plus.

- Significant development and delivery experience in leading large projects and teams.

- Hands-on coding experience with popular languages and web stacks.

- Detailed knowledge of web standards.

- Extremely strong preference for experience in the Travel Industry.

- Excellent Front-end development knowledge, strong HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (incl. frameworks such as Handlebars, AngularJS) and a passion for the front-end

- Demonstrable knowledge of responsive CSS, Accessibility, SEO, cutting edge UI techniques, and relevant W3C standards

- Exposure to concepts, methodologies and processes used in application development, web design, UX and version control, testing, quality control, content management, and site deployments

- A solid understanding of the relationship between successful user interface solutions, front-end development and its effect on key e-commerce metrics

- Relevant experience designing for smart phones/ tablets
