CT: 18 L - 21 L Open to discussion   We are looking for a CTO (Chief Technology Officer) for the largest Hindi newspaper group of India based at New Delhi.   Job Details:  Location: Delhi   Reports to: CEO   CTC: 18 L - 21 L Open to discussion   Experience: 7-10 years experience managing web application development. Hands on experience mobile app. development  Education: University degree in the field of computer science preferably with business administration,. An advanced degree in one these fields is a plus.  Role of CTO:  The Chief Technology Officer’s role is to assure the successful execution of the company’s business mission through development and deployment of the company’s web presence. This requires envisioning the company’s service offerings as a web-based news and information provider, leading implementation of web applications, and planning for risk and growth.  Responsibilities:   - The CTO shall be responsible for complete Technical- Strategy, Planning, implementation & deployment along with operations management.  - To identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web-based news portal, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success.  - To identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may support or impede the success of the business.  - To evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivering the company’s services and objectives.  - To lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all technologies and related services.  - To participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that organization objectives are achieved, risks are mitigated & managed appropriately and the organization’s resources are used optimally & responsibly, particularly in the areas of adoption of new technologies, new software development, office networks and computers, and overall technology management.  - To collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs.  - To support the marketing process by providing implementation of technical requirements for Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization.  - To monitor and control development and execution of an enterprise-wide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s data and servers.  - As a member of the senior management team, participate in the selection and registration of the company’s web site domain names whenever called for, including any related-but-unused domains that could compromise the integrity of the business (through competition, typosquatting, etc.).  - To select and manage company staff or outsourced vendors as and when required.  - To select or define the company’s software development methodology.  - To promulgate coding conventions and documentation standards.  - To establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing.  - To maintain up-to-date knowledge of contemporary technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences and reading widely (including reading your peers’ blogs!).  - To ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.  - To share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organization’s management and staff with regard to the company’s technological vision, opportunities, and challenges.  - To ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.  - To develop, track, and control the development and deployment annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.  - To establish standards of performance and monitor its conformance for staff (through performance review) and vendors (through service level agreements).  - To achieve of the company’s business goals within a context of company norms by developing policies for sharing of software code, technological innovation, business processes, and other intellectual properties.  Knowledge & Experience:  - Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet consumer/reader needs or solve business problems.  - Should have worked with startup companies.  - Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular web application framework.  - Familiar with more than one software development methodology.  - Contribution to one or more open source projects would be advantage.  - Knowledge of web standards.  - Experience of web server configuration.  - Knowledge of Internet protocols and RFC standards, database management systems, and revision control systems.  - Knowledge of technical requirements of Internet marketing and search engine optimization.  - Knowledge of information security vulnerabilities and risk management.  Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative skills would be preferred.  Personal Attributes:  -
