The company provides broadband, voice, video, data and managed services over a robust 250,000-route-mile U.S. fiber network and a 300,000-route-mile international transport network.  Data Architect  The Data Architect assume overall technical responsibility for the design and implementation of end-to end, large-scale complex solutions that integrate data from desperate systems, and delivers business solutions in a on-premise, hybrid or private cloud environment. The Data Architect also advises on engineering practices, development environments, and processes for internal and external projects.  Duties and Responsibilities:  - Architect Big Data software systems for complex data analytics requirements, including data-processing, analytics and reporting  - Design and Develop complex software components and tools to create a high throughput data processing platform  - Design and Develop high performance, high-available, scalable data processing software frameworks and data models  - Establish reference data architecture and technology roadmap in line with the business strategy  - Lead Infrastructure planning and security definitions  - Evaluate alternatives, process requirements, and collaborate with rest of the team for effective solutions  - Deliver projects on-time and to specification with quality.  - Provide leadership and mentorship to developers, and testers.  - Champion Non-Functional Requirements and evolve Architecture to meet increasing expectations and reduce technical debt  Minimum Requirements:  - 8+ years of relevant work experience.  - 3+ years of experience in architecting Distributed Systems, Big Data Solutions, Analytics and Reporting  - Hands on experience in Hadoop Technologies and tools, like Hive, HBase, Sqoop, Pig Script, Map Reduce, Spark, Core Java and Kafka is a must  - Experience building distributed, scalable, reliable and high throughput data pipelines; message queues that ingest and process data at scale and in real-time; and high performance batch data processing is expected  - Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language) is an advantage  - Experience with other related tools and technologies in Hadoop ecosystems, like Scala, Storm, Zookeeper, Flume, Oozie, JSON, NoSQL, Cloudera distribution, etc. is desired  - Experience with IaaS Cloud Infrastructure  - Experience in applying standard design methodologies and best practices  - Ability to translate complex concepts to technical solutions  - Ability to assess alternatives objectively  - Passion for working with big data, with focus on scalability and simplicity  - Passion to learn and evangelize new technologies  - Experience with Agile development teams and good inter-personal skills
