Brief of the Role  The Category Manager assists our clients with strategic sourcing, buying, and spend analytics. In addition to procurement and consulting experience, the ideal candidate will have to demonstrate working knowledge of the Domestic & International Logistics category including Air Freight, Courier Services, Full Truckload, Ocean Freight and 3rd Party Logistics preferred.Duties and responsibilities  - Primary responsibility is to achieve client success against all contractual commitments at a category level (strategic and tactical).   - Responsible to understand and achieve category deliverables, savings commitments, milestones and obligations, and establish a project plan to meet each.  - Develop client category charter, baseline, and market intelligence documents, overarching sourcing strategy and category management approach.   - Develop integrated (tactical and strategic) category sourcing strategy which delivers short term savings and drives category transformation through time.   - Developing category and sourcing strategies and perform sourcing execution activities.  - Provide category leadership and direction to Vendor development and Vendor management teams in conjunction with the Project Manager/sales/KAM  - Responsible for on-going category management (strategy management) activities including driving supplier performance, demand management savings, and increasing category compliance.   - Communicate, negotiate, and own the relationship with clients and suppliers through all levels of the client organization. The Category Manager is the primary interface to key category client stakeholders. Executive Management communication and interface required.   - Must have demonstrated knowledge of a global strategy within a large corporation and be able to drive and identify additional opportunities with client resulting in additional scope.  Additional Information  The Category Managers position requires professional business acumen, demonstrated analytical skills and communication skills, interpersonal skills and knowledge of market trends and impacts to cost structures.  - The Category Managers position requires proficiency in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Word products.  Qualifications:  - Bachelor's Degree with at least 6+ years of experience in category management with a minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing  - Ability to think both strategically and tactically and to drive execution. Should be equally comfortable with long term planning and day to day execution against goals and customer commitments.  - Strong process/project management, prioritization, and multi-tasking capabilities.  - Any ERP tool exposure, P2P Process tools, Six Sigma Certified, Proficient in MS-Office tools & Visio.   - Project Management exposure  - SAP, ARIBA or any other equivalent sourcing and spend management tools.  - SRM - Supplier Resource Management tool
