Once upon a time, in 1892 to be precise, a biscuit company was started in a nondescript house in Calcutta (now Kolkata) with an initial investment of Rs. 295. Four years later in 1983, it crossed the Rs. 100 crores revenue mark.   On the operations front, the company was making equally dynamic strides. In 1992, it celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. In 1997, the company unveiled its new corporate identity - "Eat Healthy, Think Better" - and made its first foray into the dairy products market. In 1999, the "Britannia Khao, World Cup Jao" promotion further fortified the affinity consumers had with 'Brand Britannia'.   Britannia strode into the 21st Century as one of India's biggest brands and the pre-eminent food brand of the country. It was equally recognised for its innovative approach to products and marketing: the Lagaan Match was voted India's most successful promotional activity of the year 2001 while the delicious Britannia 50-50 Maska-Chaska became India's most successful product launch. In 2002, Britannia's New Business Division formed a joint venture with Fonterra, the world's second largest Dairy Company, and Britannia New Zealand Foods Pvt. Ltd. was born. And millions of consumers will savour the results, happily ever after.   http://www.britannia.co.in/index.htm   POSITION TITLE: Manager-Indirect Tax  REPORTING TO: GM-Taxation  LOCATION: Bangalore  SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that:  - Effective all India tax administration in terms of assessments, appeals and other matters related to VAT, Service tax, GST etc.  - Advising the business on Sales-tax/VAT /Service tax issues, and international tax matters.  - Ensuring tax compliance, timely payment of taxes   - Effective management of the In-house tax department.  Major Responsibilities:  - Timely and effective completion of tax assessments / appeals.  - Enabling business in structuring deals with knowledgeable inputs on impact of indirect taxes.  - Coordination with the tax consultants across the country and ensure timely and effective compliance and support to business.  - Effective handling of tax audits, VAT audits, liaison with statutory auditors, handling of tax queries, investigations and audits.  - Attending assessments and appeals on all India basis in Tax office and handle Tax matters in Tribunal &court  - Providing advisory support to Business groups  - Provide independent tax advisory support to enable optimal structuring of transactions  - Compliance of statutory requirements under various acts.  - MUST HAVES- Experience in Indirect taxation  QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Chartered Accountant is strongly preferred   - 2-4 years of relevant experience preferably in FMCG industry or consultant in Indirect Tax firms preferably Big 4. Prior Experience in Indirect Taxation is a must.
