VP - COO

Overall job purpose :

The Chief Operating Office supports both the strategy and day-to-day operations of Finance. This includes resource and budget management, driving talent development and the colleague agenda and business administration across 450-700 finance colleagues.

Main Function :

- Day to day management of the COO function in the location, reporting to the Asia Finance COO and locally into the Finance site head

- Direct support for the Finance site head and specific sub-functional leads across India

- Support and facilitate the implementation of the India Finance Strategy

- Monitoring, controlling and reporting headcount and costs for India Finance

- Working with HR and the global COO team to shape and drive Asia colleague initiatives including talent development

- Supporting cross-functional, regional and global key strategic projects

- Leading the India operational aspects, but also ensuring regional and global consistency of all of the above

- Build collaborative, and collegiate relationships with the global COO community spanning across functional and geographic boundaries

Key accountabilities and approximate time split :

India Finance Strategy :

- Help to articulate and embed the Finance vision and strategy within India

- Support the India management team and own various ad hoc projects to ensure our objectives are achieved, including tracking KPIs etc. For example negotiate, agree and track efficiency targets across global COO / functional leads Support the global location strategy for Finance, working closely with Finance Change Management and challenging against assessed strategy

- Ownership of the overall BCM strategy for Chennai/Noida and ensuring team plans are up to date

Headcount management :

- Responsibility for understanding organisation and headcount in location and for specific sub-functions and ensuring the Global CAO team are kept informed of updates/changes enabling them to report on HC

- Ensuring transparency around recharges for services from India to stakeholders

- Capacity planning and forecasting for the respective site

- Tracking delivery of committed efficiencies and engaging with site function leads and global function COOs

Cost management :

- Calculate and pitch annual discretionary budgets and negotiate global approval

- Monitor spend vs budget and flag issues to senior management early

- Be able to understand and articulate cost drivers, recharges, allocations

- Work with managers and cost partners to identify and execute cost efficiency opportunities

- Local coordination and input into the annual budgeting process.

- Enforce cost policies

Person specification :

Technical skills, competencies required,

Knowledge and expertise :

Experience Required :

- Previous (5-7 years) relevant experience working in a large multinational firm

- Ideally possess extensive knowledge of Human Resources processes and functional operating models

- Demonstrable organisational skills in a dynamic environment

- Proven communication skills in dealing with local and global stakeholders across all levels.

- Experience of working independently to improve and enhance a process, including highly developed ability to review, analyse and provide innovate solutions across a wide range of areas
