Role Purpose  - Engage with the front line in a more collaborative manner   - Strengthen the risk management framework and ensure integration of the same into decision making  - Assist VP Risk to effectively identify, quantify and manage the risk profile of the business   - Engage in key business initiatives and projects to ensure that operational risk exposure is considered and addressed.   - Manage and undertake assurance and thematic reviews across the business to ensure that the control environment is operating effectively.  Principle Accountabilities  - Implement Risk & Control Self Assessment program for business to ensure controls are embedded into processes and periodically assessed and tested for effectiveness  - Conduct risk assessment for all key projects and business decision  - Conduct thematic reviews as per the agreed assurance plan  - Provides inputs for maintaining the risk profile across the Company including operational and other risks   - Responsible for putting together relevant agenda items for the Operational Risk and Internal Control forum and ensure that operational risk and internal control issues get the requisite management attention  - Play an advisory role in strategic business and change projects where assigned to represent the Risk function to ensure that the processes are designed with due regard to associated risks and controls and the control environment is being built in accordance with the requisite control standards and the risk appetite of the Company  - Conduct post implementation reviews of key projects, initiatives, to ensure actual controls implemented are as intended and processes are working effectively  Operational Effectiveness and Control  Ensure Operational Risk governance is managed effectively across the Company, combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of business and customers needs to create and deliver value add for the business  - Strive to ensure effectiveness of operational risk frameworks and comprehensiveness of reviews and control assessments  - Simple processes, easy to understand risk reports that highlight the material issues for management attention and action  Role Context  - The role reports to VP- Risk Management and sits within the Risk function that is an independent control function  - Located at the Company's head office in Gurgaon, the individual interfaces with functional heads, risk counterparts across joint venture partners   - Scope and scale of the role will vary as the business moves to greater maturity and it is expected that complexity and business significance will also grow over time.  - Risk management within insurance industry in India is an evolving role and it is difficult to find competent staff with insurance experience and domain knowledge in this field.  Role Dimensions  - Provides guidance on operational risk management, implementation and reviews to business.   - Works closely with senior executives in the business and other Control functions in the Company and Group
