Main responsibilities:  - Litigation Management - handling consumer litigation, ombudsman complaints or any other legal case on behalf of the company  - Liaise with Solicitors and outstation advocates and attend to all civil and criminal litigation including matters Quasi-judicial authorities   - Advise the business on all legal issues and legal risks pertinent to life insurance business.  - Drafting of replies to legal notice, consumer complaints, Ombudsman complaints, pleadings, affidavits etc.   - Providing support in redressal of consumer complaints  - Track of development in laws and regulations relevant to the Industry.   - Maintain the litigation deck for the Company   - Ensure compliance with the Legal Policy.  Qualifications :  Law Graduate (L.L.B.) from a recognised university about 7 years of relevant experience  Skills/ knowledge:  - Excellent conceptual and analytical skills - Should possess ability to understand legal, business dynamics and processes.   - Should have strong ability to interpret laws and regulations and apply the same to complex issues.  - Self starter  - Pro-active  - Decisive  - Business oriented  Experience :  - 7-10 years of relevant experience  - Comprehensive understanding of insurance/ financial service industry and regulations.  - Good knowledge of legal issues impacting the Insurance industry with good knowledge of legal principles universally applicable to all businesses. Ability to interpret laws impacting Aviva's operations.  Key Outputs :   - Timely closure of all litigation from a legal perspective  - Compliance with the provisions of Insurance Act and other regulatory provisions  - Provide in - house legal support required by functions in external dealings  - Defend Company and its executives against any legal exposure  - Represent Company before Courts and other statutory authorities  - Provide legal opinion on business issues
