Assistant Manager/Manager/Senior Manager, Reporting and Governance

Main Purpose Of Job :

- Drive the Asia financial reporting to ensure that it meets the Group requirements and is performed in a timely and accurate manner.

- Monitor and ensure clearly defined and effective regional financial policies, procedures and controls are implemented / rolled-out to enable the compliance with group reporting requirements

- Ensure compliance with Regional and Group Governance requirements (e.g. CFO sign-off, Regional Management Audit and Compliance Committee (RMACC) etc.)

Key Responsibilities : The key responsibilities of this role are to :

Drive financial close processes across region :

- Review and understand Group financial reporting instructions

- Issue clearly defined, tailored and timely financial reporting instructions / timetables to Local Entities, ensuring they are consistent with Group standards, documented, widely understood and enforced

- Work closely with Reporting & Business Analysis team and Strategy team to ensure financial and management data in Magnitude are aligned with financials as in the records of both Regional team & Local Entities

- Review Group consolidation adjustments updated in Magnitude (Group reporting tool) to ensure the correctness of account balances contributed by each entities at Asia consolidation view

Monitor local entities to follow Regional and Group financial and management reporting policies/methodology, procedures and control :

- Effective and efficient communication of updated or new Group/ Regional requirements / policies to the relevant entities

- Regularly review financial closing and management reporting processes to maintain efficiency, effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement of the processes

Drive the Regional & Group governance reporting across the Asia region :

- Timely submit the required CFO sign-offs to support Group's HY and FY financial close

- Prepare board paper on external audit findings status update for the RMACC on timely basis

- Report on the status update of external audit issues from Local Entities via the Local Management Audit and Compliance Committee (LMACC) papers on timely basis and provide support to those finance related issues when needed

- Support Group audit fees negotiation by collecting and summarizing audit fees budget of Local Entities

Report research/study for technical accounting issues :

- Provide accounting advice and guidance to support new business transactions and requests from local entities.

- Provide support on delivering financial reporting training to Local Entities and across Regional Finance teams to enhance Local as well as Regional Finance capabilities and knowledge

Deliver governance and Magnitude training to enhance Local Entity capabilities around financial, management and performance reporting disciplines

Project Support :

- Provide ad hoc accounting and reporting support, e.g. Solvency II Pillar III Dry-run

Key Customers :

- Regional CEO / CFO / EXCOM

- Local Entity CEOs / CFOs

- Local Financial Controllers

- SA - PBRC (Poles, Group Consolidation), Group Tools system teams

Working Relationships :

- Reporting and Business Analysis

- Value Reporting, Treasury and Capital Management

- Finance Business Partners

- Regional Investments

- Regional Office Finance / Tax

Experience/Qualification :

- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business discipline. Actuarial knowledge is an added advantage

- CA, CPA or qualified Actuary

- Minimum of 8 years insurance industry experience Knowledge

- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting and Group accounts consolidation of insurance business

- Good understanding of management accounting and reporting regimes and concepts

- Knowledge of performance drivers and measurement within life and general insurance businesses

- Understanding of KPIs and value measures used by the Group - highly desirable Skills

- Excellent communication skills with good command of spoken and written English

- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Good at leading change.

- Good team player with excellent project management skills and good experience in monitoring, analysis and reporting performance

- Self-motivated and strong analytical mind, well-organized and attention to details

- Strong at effectively handle multiple priorities under time and delivery pressures in a changing business environment

- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
