Overall purpose of role :

Jobholder will be part of the team which is responsible for credit risk analysis, monitoring and limits administration for Banks/ FI counterparties . The team supports onshore credit officers by preparing annual credit review papers and in administration of risk limits/ exposure on this portfolio.

- Effective credit risk management of the assigned portfolio of financial institution clients (mainly banks).

- Preparation of annual credit review packs and Industry reviews.

- Supporting onshore credit risk officers in day-to-day risk management activities.

- Managing day-to-day credit limit requests for trade finance and treasury transactions.

- Managing within a set of credit limits assigned by the onshore credit officers to individual clients and portfolios at product and country level

- Maintaining accurate and up to date information in the Banks- credit systems

- Ensuring compliance with Bank's credit risk policies & procedures and internal controls framework

Key Accountabilities and Skills required :

Credit analysis and monitoring :

- Input relevant financial and non-financial details into grading tools to arrive at internal credit rating for Mutual Funds and Pension Funds counterparties.

- Liaise with onshore credit officers to migrate the process of funds grading with an objective to rationalise RWA incurred by exposure to such counterparties.

- Credit risk assessment of client banks/ financial institutions and country banking sectors

- Preparing high quality, concise but comprehensive credit notes covering analysis of:

- quantitative factors such as asset quality, capitalisation, liquidity, funding profile, portfolio concentrations, earnings quality, etc.

- qualitative factors such as management quality, business profile/ strategy, and macroeconomic & regulatory environment, and

- Exposure on the counterparties including risk drivers, key documentation terms/ mitigants, exposure/ limit parameters etc.

- Developing and maintaining analytical databases of clients- financial information and industry aggregates/ averages/ peer comparisons at both local and regional level

- Closely monitoring developments related to regulatory, industry, counterparty as well as market indicators such as external ratings, share price, CDS spreads and escalating problems and risk issues to onshore credit officers in a timely manner.

- Rigorous and continuous monitoring of exposure against risk limits

- Supporting onshore credit officers and the regional FI risk team in developing a Portfolio view of FI/ Bank risk being run.

Credit administration :

- Timely action on transaction-level limit requests received from Front office and Product areas via allocation from limit framework assigned by onshore credit officers

- Escalating credit requests outside the agreed framework to onshore credit officers.

- Updating all credit risk systems to ensure that credit limits, internal grades and other credit parameters are aligned with the framework assigned by onshore credit officers

- Investigating limit excesses if any, and escalating to the onshore credit officers

- Preparing regular and ad-hoc Management Information packs for portfolio oversight

- Ensuring data integrity and robust control environment during risk management process

Stakeholder management and leadership :

- Actively engage and help other team members in achieving their objectives to enhance performance of the wider team

- Build strong working relationships with senior Onshore credit officers . Proactively manage internal stakeholders across technology, risk etc.

Decision making and problem solving :

- Think and act beyond their immediate responsibilities

- Understanding of products and client offerings for Investment & Corporate Banking

- Assess, propose and jointly agree with Credit sanctioners on limits and limit structures.

Risk and Control :

- All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards

Your Skills and Qualifications will include :

Essential :

- Ability to read financial statements and familiarity with credit risk concepts

- Inclination to turn around large volumes with focus on efficiency

- Eye for detail

- Masters/ Professional qualification such as MBA/ CA/ CFA or equivalent

- Experience in credit analysis/ research

- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

- Strong analytical skills

- Understanding of financial accounts & balance sheets of Banks and financial institutions.

- Ability to understand business environment and key risk drivers

- Ability to work independently as well as being a good team player

- Ability to multitask, work under pressure and handle urgent transactions in a timely manner

- Strong interpersonal skills, Confident, personable

- Proficient in MS office - Word, Excel and Power Point

Preferred :

- Experience in offshore credit analysis unit of a major international bank

- Experience in credit risk analysis of Banks/ Financial institutions

- Familiarity with banking products such as trade finance and derivatives
