POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

The Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and actuarial support services in Re-insurance domain. Runs risk modeling analysis at a portfolio level in modeling software, reviews information for accuracy and prepares results for review by underwriter. Develops skill set to work on various risk modeling applications available in the industry. Interprets and communicates results with underwriters and provides suggestions and commentary as appropriate.

Responsibilities

- To work on multiple input data formats and transfer data utilizing software functions.

- Handles client requests and performs work with little assistance.

- Understands analysis request received from underwriters to code all kinds of treaties, perils/ regions accurately for modeling.

- Set up appropriate analysis in the relevant risk modeling software.

- Provides results in the expected format for underwriters.

- Reviews results for accuracy and saves information in appropriate folder (additional reviews done by Analysts as needed).

- Contacts client for clarifications or other queries via e-mail or telephone.

- Seeks assistance from Team Lead or Senior Analysts as needed.

- Possess basic knowledge of SQL, MS Access and have ability to work with databases.

- Follows all procedures of the deliverables.

- Participates in any re-insurance technical training provided by the client.

Qualifications and Competencies to be developed in order to perform job this job effectively

Must be able to:

- Demonstrate knowledge of underwriting process, industry happenings and Re-insurance modeling concepts and terminologies.

- Apply high level of problem solving, logical reasoning and analytical skills.

- Effectively manage complex/multiple accounts in a timely manner.

- Consult client effectively when discussing interpretations and results.

- Complete tasks independently.

- Apply knowledge of more complex concepts and financial terms.

- Possess procedural knowledge of multiple lines of business at a portfolio level.

- Show strong quantitative ability to manipulate and interpret significant volumes of data.

- Effectively summarize and communicate analysis results with accuracy and attention to detail

- Coach and train other team members as needed by Assistant Team Manager.

- Demonstrate basic leadership skills.

- Show proficiency in the following software: MS Office Suite, MS Excel (Advanced), MS Powerpoint (Beginning/Intermediate) MS Access (Advanced), SQL (Intermediate), Modeling Software (Advanced), Statistical Modeling Software (Beginning/Intermediate)

- Demonstrate excellent English language communication and comprehension.

Hiring Criteria

- Familiarity and prior usage of statistical modeling software (SAS & SPSS preferred).

- Must be a specialist, either through qualification / experience.

- Experience in Insurance/ Risk Management, Statistics and Data Analysis.

- Graduate / Post Graduate in Actuarial science/ Statistics/ Mathematics / Economics.

- Long term interest for career growth in underwriting and risk management.

- Able to work flexible schedule to accommodate business requirements and work requests in different time zones.

- Proficiency in English language (verbal, written, comprehension).
