Director - Business Intelligence & Early Warning Capabilities

- This position is within the Risk and Information Management (RIM) organization in RIM-CoE, Gurgaon, as the product owner for MIS and Early warning applications that support best-in-class business intelligence and monitoring the integrity of data and decision outcomes across - Credit, Fraud, and Operational Risk- globally to mitigate risks to the AXP brand, customer experience, and Bank Holding Company status.

- This leader will lead a team with technical and business-facing responsibilities and will work closely with technology and Risk colleagues, globally to accomplish the team's mission.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :

- Define standards and architecture in the Big Data Platform that support best-in-class Business Intelligence solutions for RIM

- Maintain and deliver applications in the Big Data Platform that support early warning alerts for out-of-pattern events/conditions, Risk and Compliance policy exceptions and inaccurate decisions

- Design and deploy robust data model architecture to support optimal data processing and standardized metric definitions

- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with broader ARC teams, RIM Strategy and Modeling Teams, Operational Risk and AET partners

- Delivering technological solutions through joint planning sessions, evaluation of infrastructure trends, change management strategies and strategic partner communication, including training and, applying lessons learned.

- Creating, extending and driving common architecture and process discipline for development, demand management, productivity and resource allocation for the team

- Ongoing focus on data/process integrity and re-engineering to drive relevant business transformation while effectively managing costs

- Strengthening the closed-loop governance on early warnings to ensure timely analysis, proper documentation and issue remediation

Qualifications :

At least 5 years of relevant experience in the following areas :

- Strong technical knowledge and solutions development within Big Data Platform, specifically as it related to Business Intelligence and data architecture

- Risk business knowledge and strong understanding of technology execution of key Risk strategies within the following domains - risk models, fraud, customer management, collections and deep knowledge of data quality and business intelligence solutions is a plus

- Knowledge of key Amex Risk systems - CAS, GRMS, GNA, GDE, WCC, etc. and AXP Technologies mythologies and governance structure is preferred

- Understanding of SDLC, particularly in Agile project methodologies with complementary experience in business architecture and technical design

- Experience with data architecture and design approach for effective Business Intelligence delivery

- Prior experience leading and managing business processes which are heavily dependent on business rules, and integration with upstream and downstream systems/processes

- Solid project management skills, and ability to translate business needs into technical/capability specifications

- Direct people leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a highly engaged team with a diverse technical skill-set

- Proven thought leadership, strong communication, relationship and conflict management skills

- Experience in working with BI tools, SQL, Hive, MapReduce, MapR, OLAP, .NET and distributed architecture

- Minimum of Bachelors degree, Masters degree preferred
