Hiring Unit: Retail Business Services

The RBS group in Chennai is an integral part of Amazon online product lifecycle and buying operations. The team is designed to ensure Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best price, wide selection and good product information. The team's primary role is to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog. The tasks handled by this group have a direct impact on customer buying decisions and online user experience.

This role requires working closely with your team of Program Managers, the RBS software development team and key software development teams across retail systems to define strategy and requirements, and lead development design through delivery and subsequent operation. This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and product strategy. Excellent listening, writing skills and strong technical competency are essential.

The ideal candidate has experience managing teams and can focus clearly on delivery and the customers. The candidate has experience managing multiple complete product development cycles, possesses superior analytical abilities and product judgment. This opportunity requires excellent people management skills, problem-solving, and communication skills. Key to success in this position is an equal passion for managing a high performing organization as well as delivery of leading edge technology.

This is a multi-faceted role requiring a breadth of skills:

Program Management

People Management

Have deep knowledge of ecommerce technology, functions, and features.

Have general knowledge of entire Amazon retail platform. Be able to solely represent Amazon technology with senior management and executives. Provide documentation on platform functionality and service behavior.

Understand general technology trends and implications.

Drive prioritization and coordination with internal teams during Program Management

Work with internal development teams to design, develop, and support website and e-commerce solutions (features and capabilities).

Oversee the entire product lifecycle: feasibility through scoping, requirements definition through specification, design, development, quality assurance, integration, implementation, launch, and production support.

Clarify and drive project priorities and commitments as well as establish clear chains of project management and accountability across multiple geographic locations.

Effectively manage vendor expectations of Amazon technology and resolve conflicts that balance vendor and internal needs for technical, implementation, and operational issues across Amazon retail Website technology.

Have general knowledge of seller market segment (e.g., apparel, home, sporting goods), processes, industry standards, regulations, and current business trends.

Effectively communicate and function within Amazon to gain required resources and appropriate management attention/support.

Basic Qualification:

Experience managing teams

Experience building processes, project management, and release schedules

Experience with project delivery for large, cross functional projects

Experience developing Internet products and technologies

Prior experience with agile methodologies

11+ years of relevant work experience in internet-related program and/or technical product management in a software applications environment

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline

Desired Skills and Experience

Preferred Qualification:

Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units

Retail domain expertise

PMP/ Black Belt

Experience leading or managing large operations team

Master's degree in Computer Science and/or Business Administration
