Amazon - Program Manager - Line Haul

As a Line Haul Manager, you will be responsible for executing carrier operations for the assigned city/region. The role is part of Line Haul operations team. You will work closely with internal stakeholders including Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers & Last Mile operations team and external stakeholders like vendors and carriers. We are looking for individuals with proven ability to drive process improvements & ability to keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline driven environment. The individual should have a can-do attitude and an ability to solve problems independently with limited guidance. Your role will involve managing operational metrics, lead continuous improvement initiatives, manage carrier relationships and plan for any changes in network.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Manage the daily management of the line haul schedule and associated systems

- Transportation carrier performance management, such as on-time truck performance, on time placement

- Lead carrier engagement on behalf of Amazon

- Management and Liaising with Co-Loading vendors (Surface haul and Air-haul)

- Tracking existing metrics to detect & remove any defects

- Continuous Improvement Management with carriers, as well as development of SOPs

- Lead planning and change management on strategic initiatives on speed and cost improvement

- Maintain & improve communication between Amazon & external carrier, stepping into mediate whenever required

Basic Qualifications

Skills & Experience

- BE/ B.Tech Engineering from a reputed university, Operations or related field

MBA Preferred.

- 3+ years Transportation or Supply Chain experience, preferably in a similar role, within a high-volume logistics, manufacturing or engineering environment

- Forecasting, planning or scheduling background in a transportation or production environment.

- Basic/Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques preferred. Excel skills required

- Excellent problem-solving, task prioritization, follow-up, and customer service skills.

- Direct team management experience

- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment

- Strong Analytical skills: Effectively analyze and interpret information, identifying & validating the key facts, including reviewing alternatives to determine advantages and associated risks.

Linehaul team is a part of Amazon Transportation Services. We are responsible for planning and execution of intercity movement of packages by air and surface mode. The team is responsible for contracting of carriers and executing movement of shipments between a vast network of Fulfilment Centers, Sortation Centers and Delivery Stations across the country. The team also plays a key role in designing the network to cater to different transportation services at the right speed, considering operational constraints at the different facilities. The team is also responsible for increasing the reach of Amazon Logistics to more remote geographies. The team is divided into a regional operations team and a central program/project team.
