Role Overview : We, at Zolo, are looking for a motivated and experienced professional who can who can spearhead our business expansion in Bangalore. The ideal candidate should have 5-7 - years of experience in business development or field sales in the context of retail expansion, real estate, hotels or hospitality industries. He/She is expected to play an end to end role in evaluation of new clusters for expansion including assessment of market demand, supply availability, and running discussions with suppliers to initiate new property acquisitions. He/She would work closely with the City head for Bangalore and the top management at Zolo (National Head of Supply) and play a critical role in the business expansion for Bangalore. He/she should have good problem solving and analytical abilities and come from a top tier college with excellent academic scores. About ZoloStays : Zolo is a Nexus funded, pre-series B company which provides fully managed co-living spaces which are fun, flexible and functional. We are currently present in Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Delhi and Kota, and fast expanding to other geographies. Founded by alumni of IIMs, IITs, AIIMS, ISB, we are at a team size of 500+. Our managed co-living solutions are looking to elevate the traditional paying guest accommodations / hostels, and offer all kinds of basic and luxury living amenities with a promise of high quality. Some of the prominent features include fully furnished rooms, hygienic and healthy food, daily housekeeping, internet facilities, security and a vibrant community. We are now looking to aggressively expand our operations in existing as well as new markets. About the Role / Responsibilities : The role of the Head of Business Development would encompass the following : - Assessment of the city / cluster demand potential : Mapping demand clusters in terms of different customer segments (working professionals, students, male / female, high end / low end), along with specific demand centers (large Tech / IT parks, SEZs, universities / colleges / institutes, large Corporate offices, etc.) and understanding of dynamics of demand in those geographies. Involves both online / desk research as well as field surveys and meetings. - Assessment of the city / cluster supply structure : Mapping existing properties / supply in target geographies, type of supply, quantity of existing supply and demand supply-gap, nature and pricing of supply, key dynamics of existing supply and potential list of suppliers to target. Involves both online / desk research as well as field surveys and meetings - Relationship building with potential suppliers : Meeting and building a long term relationship with property owners / suppliers in target markets to assess on-ground acquisition potential, build a present and a future pipeline - Team managing and reporting : Building the right team and managing them to ensure that the monthly, quarterly and annual targets for the city are achieved KPIs for the role would be the following : - Meeting targets for property acquisitions (number of live beds) in the city - Efficiency of lead funnel management, channel partners management - Business growth from large builders / developers - Profitability of acquired properties - Process adherence and timely reporting Desired Experience / Background : Prior Experience : We are looking for young and energetic team players with 5-7 years of experience in business development or sales roles; B2B business development experience with startups, retail players, real estate developers, hotels or hospitality industries, large Corporates would be preferred. Key Skill Sets : Strong skills required with spreadsheets (MS-Excel), numerical assessment, analytical problem solving, data collection and assessment, ability to independently meet and represent Zolo with property owners and large builders / developers. Educational Background : Top tier MBA institutes would be given strong preference Desired competencies : - Strong problem solving and analytical skills, ability to work with spreadsheets - High degree of initiative and on-the-ground execution focus - Strong people management skills - Good program management skills Languages : Complete command over English is a must and fluency in Kannada and Telugu would be preferred Location & Compensation : Location : Bangalore Compensation : Depending upon experience
