Lead Analyst, Infrastructure and Capital Goods sector, Institutional Equity Research Short job description: This is an institutional equity research lead analyst role covering the Infrastructure and Capital Goods sectors for Indian equity markets. Candidates who are already in the same role and are obtaining votes from Tier 1 institutional clients would be preferred. The job entails producing high quality research reports and then marketing them by interacting with institutional clients, which include mutual funds, insurance companies, PE firms and FIIs. Full job description: - The lead analyst would be expected to cover stocks in the Indian Infrastructure and Capital Goods sectors with a healthy mix of largecap and midcap stocks, with main focus on liquid largecap names, which attract institutional client interest. - Candidates who are already in the same role, have gone through the learning curve and are currently receiving votes from Tier 1 institutional clients are the right fit for this opening. At the same time, candidates who may not currently be lead analysts but have been working closely with a lead analyst at a Tier 1 Institutional broker would also be considered. - Candidates who are not in an equity research role but have strong domain knowledge of the Infrastructure and Capital Goods sectors and have intellectual horsepower as evidenced by a strong educational background also carry relevance for this role. - The job itself entails writing high quality thought leadership reports, initiating coverage reports, result reports and event-related reports on the Infrastructure and Capital Goods sector, which are expected to be differentiated and create recall from and impact on Tier 1 institutional clients. - What is most important is that the candidate has to marry the skill of domain knowledge with that of effective verbal communication by marketing the research reports via insightful phone conversations and meetings with clients. Client calling is monitored internally on a regular basis and is regarded as a key input driving client impact, recall value and votes. - The candidate would also be expected to be up-to-speed with regard to generating corporate access for institutional clients. Such corporate access, when generated with management personnel which are generally inaccessible, would be regarded as having greater value. There would be special focus on getting Industry Experts to speak on topics and having clients participate in such Events, while giving them an opportunity to pose questions to the said Experts. - The candidate would also be expected to work on investment banking deals such as IPOs managed by our merchant banking team. In this regard, the candidate would be expected to garner knowledge about the IPO-bound company and author a pre-deal investor education note on the same. The lead analyst would then embark on educating the clients regarding the company. - It would be ideal if the candidate is able to source investment banking deals, capital raise opportunities and block deals though prior experience or evidence of doing so is not a must. - The candidate must be a self-starter who engages with clients without any push from superiors. Sourcing new clients for empanelment is also encouraged. - The candidate must also supervise an Associate employee, while ensuring that the sub-ordinate is able to collate and maintain databases, build and maintain financial models and carry out other support tasks for the lead analyst.
