XSEED has built a successful education business with twin capabilities of high-quality "product" and strong "sales" team. In scaling this business from here on it needs to build a third fundamental capability of "commercial" i.e. ensuring customer obligations are met. This is a significant challenge in all developing countries (including India), and especially so in the education domain. We seek a leader who understands not only finance & legal but business as a whole, has the will/skill to enforce policy in an effective yet business-friendly manner, and can build this strategic function for the company. We believe once done this will be a strategic competitive advantage for the company, in India and internationally. Role:- - Develop & execute company policy on customers and contracts. - Develop a customer communication system where all customers have timely, up-to-date, information. - Collaborate with the products team to develop pricing strategies. - Develop new commercial models and processes which synergize company and customer interest. - Build market intelligence on customers, provide analytics on customer behaviour towards product pricing and commercial terms. - Review and assess the potential to develop strategic partnerships to grow revenue and market presence. - Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the existing and target customers. - Own enforcement of all contracts & procedures. - Own collection of cash and all accounts receivable. - Own "beta-loss" elimination viz. bad debts, returns, discounts, and inventory. - Own the legal recourse process. - Partner with sales, finance, & supply chain to build a culture and system of zero beta-loss tolerance. - Hold sales teams accountable to collection - regulate, monitor, control, escalate. - Build escalation system including red flags & legal actions with timelines & consequences. - Manage and strengthen the commercial team to deliver above goals. - Build a vendor eco system including experts/agencies on collection, legal, distribution, banking, vetting, and market intelligence. Profile:- - A solid finance professional with decade plus diverse business-finance experience with solid multinational training. - Direct experience in commercial and receivables management at NBFC/ Telcom/ ITES/ Banking enterprise. - Demonstrated team management and hiring skills. - Strong communication skills - written, verbal - and interpersonal confidence. - Strong process, reviewing, and control skills. - A qualified chartered accountant. A degree in law would be an advantage. - Assertive, task focussed, hands-on, and persistent attitude. The position is Bangalore based and will require regular travel.
