XL Catlin - Deputy Manager - Finance - External Reporting - CA (4-7 yrs)

External reporting finance team is involved in producing the financial statements based on the statutory rules and as per the local GAAP requirements on a quarterly basis. The team is also involved in preparation of the various reports and forms as prescribed by the Insurance regulatory authorities of various countries where XL writes its insurance business from on a quarterly and annual basis. The team produces various reports for the regulator to show we maintain sufficient level of solvency and liquidity as prescribed by the regulator. The team prepares various reports as prescribed by the USGAAP corporate close calendar. The team performs data clean ups and prepares various source system & other reconciliations to support various stakeholders and auditors.

What will your essential responsibilities include-

- Prepare and submit timely and accurate Statutory Financial Statements for UK business (consolidated) in compliance with UK GAAP

- Understand differences between UK GAAP & US GAAP accounting for European business and pass necessary journals in Statutory Ledger for compliance with UK GAAP

- Preparation of quarterly / Annual Regulatory returns for submission to PRA (UK Financial Regulator) reflecting capital requirements, liquidity risks and various other key items

- Finalization of Balance sheet and income statement, including commentaries, on a quarterly basis in compliance with US GAAP for UK based Insurance/Reinsurance entities.

- Co-ordinate with Statutory Auditors during statutory audit and provide explanations & supporting schedules.

You will report to (AVP - Finance).

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

- CA with 5-7 years of experience in an organization of repute

- Strong Accounting knowledge (USGAAP & IFRS), having grasp of overall Financial Statements (P&L and BS)

- Proficient in IT skills (MS Excel, MS Access)

- Strong analytical & team leading skills

- Willingness to ask - why- and - how we can improve-

- Good Communication & interpersonal skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audience.

- Organized, methodical, able to deal effectively with multiple priorities and do multitasking

- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment

- Knowledge of an ERP package (particularly PeopleSoft) is preferable

- Candidates with (re)insurance industry would be preferred

- International outlook; capable of working effectively across borders and across cultures
