WWF India - Senior Manager - Climate & Business (8-12 yrs)

- WWF-India is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to contribute to lead its corporate climate engagement, as part of WWF-India's Sustainable Business programme. The Senior Manager is expected to play an essential role with his/her primary responsibilities.

- India's rapid economic growth is leading to new and increased developmental opportunities and challenges at multiple levels. As one of the largest conservation organisations in the country, WWF-India seeks to leverage these opportunities and address these challenges both through biodiversity conservation, and reducing humanity's environmental footprint.

- WWF's Sustainable Business programme works with businesses to deliver transformational partnerships aimed at improving environmental and social outcomes. These partnerships help them (1) understand the impact of their operations and supply chains on critical natural habitats, such as deforestation, extractives, fossil fuel emissions and (2) find solutions that mitigate business risks and enhance business opportunities that promote positive environmental solutions such as renewable energy, climate innovation, sustainable finance, water stewardship.

- India has developed a roadmap to achieve ambitious renewable energy targets of 175 GW by 2022 and is now at the forefront of the global movement to make renewable energy (RE) the - new normal- . The corporate sector constitutes 52% of the overall power demand in India and has a critical role to play in achieving this target. While most of the focus in India has been on generation, it is also important to understand and address the challenges faced by the corporate sector in renewable energy uptake.

Location: New Delhi

The Job Profile:

- Lead the development of a corporate climate strategy to mobilize business and industry in India to promote renewable energy uptake

- Design and implement a climate and renewable energy platform for renewable energy procurement by the corporate sector

- Provide thought leadership on corporate climate leadership

- Represent WWF at relevant corporate climate industry fora/workshops

- Develop and manage relationships with corporates and external stakeholders, such as industry associations, NGOs, generators, policymakers, regulators, discoms, etc.

- Work closely with WWF's global network and donors related to the project

- Manage project implementation, monitoring and timely reporting to achieve desired outcomes

- Keep abreast of relevant industry sectors and national and international climate related developments

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:

- An advanced degree in international development/international policy, management or a relevant field;

- About 8-10 years of relevant industry experience;

- A clear understanding of climate and renewable energy, policy and the business drivers and levers for ambitious climate action at the corporate level;

- Experience in engaging with business and industry sectors, to change practices and behaviours.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills

- Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation)

- Excellent inter-personal and team skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

- Ability to multi-task and display strong result-oriented approach
