Position Title : Manager - Warehouse & Logistics

Location : Mahindra World City, Chennai

Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Experience: 12 - 14years' WH relevant experience in Automotive / Engineering industry

Qualification: Engineering Degree or Diploma + MBA - material management system / logistics.

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible / accountable and leading warehouse team who are a key component of the larger location working towards achievement of the Win strategy objectives at Chennai. Key objectives will include a) developing processes aimed towards timely availability of materials to external & internal customers and b) sustaining a high level of inventory accuracy at the location; in turn by implementing kaizen systems and steering the warehouse team towards a culture of lean & impeccable 5S.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

Essential Functions:

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Plan resource allocation and WH staffing (supervisors, associate and temps) in close communication with the business heads to support meet their business objectives.

2. Develop & execute material handling plans and processes for all groups based at the location.

3. Coordinate with CRM, SCM & other teams on OTD support which refers to Inbound / Storage / Issue / Outbound.

4. Develop procedures along with the team to ensure IATF / ISO compliant material management systems in place, and impeccable 5S within the WH.

5. Review internal WH processes to ensure that business systems are up to date on inventory levels and transactions at any given time.

6. Work alongside the IT team to ensure adequate training to team members on business systems, also work on kaizen ideas implementation vis-a-vis process improvements and implementation of new technologies to improve overall team productivity.

7. Develop and implement a cycle count plan to ensure business systems reflect accurate inventory at any given point in time.

8. Develop and implement warehouse strategy to optimize the storage space by following lean strategies

9. Evaluate & contribute on the cost saving initiates thro VA/VE process on Freight, packing materials and other logistics costs to improve the DNE.

10. Evaluate & contribute by organizing and monitoring storage and distribution of goods

11. Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce

12. Responsible for managing the operational inventory to ensure adequate stocking levels for immediate production items and forecasting for future requirements. Will establish and implement standard/automated delivery procedures for just in time supplier stocking items

13. Will manage the transportation logistics to ensure distribution of products direct to customers, or through distribution centers / warehouses are completed with optimum service at the most efficient cost.

14. To ensure the flow of raw materials and final products from suppliers to retailers and customers

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

- Engineering with 12 - 14years' WH relevant experience

- Diploma / MBA - Certification on material management system / logistics.

- Required experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong leadership qualities and communication skills.

- Very process oriented and technologically inclined

- Languages - English, Tamil

- Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff

- Experience of working in IATF / ISO environment, lean material handling, 5S implementation projects
