Role Description : The leader of the SBIR Management Unit will drive all SBIR related deployment for WF in India. This is a leadership role with a strong combination of conceptual, strategic and operational responsibilities. The leader should be able to design the program, develop a plan for pilot deployment, build a team and roll out the program to meet the goals. - The leader is expected to strategically drive this effort with several Ministries of the Government of India, to support the ecosystem for innovation driven SMEs in India. In doing so, s/he will build the program for high quality of implementation at scale engaging multiple ministries and industries. Responsibilities: a. Technology and techno-commercial aspects in one or two specific areas (Bioengineering, biotech, bio-devices would be of importance given that this person will also manage the new Wadhwani Innovation Fund @ WRCB IIT B) Biotechnology, having expertise in two or more verticals in SBIR investments: Energy, Defense, Transport, etc. - Experience in managing innovation projects and innovation grants at scale. - Strong organizational expertise and inclination given we will have to manage large volumes of grants and even larger volume of applications.&nbsp; - Experience in building and managing peer-review networks for the above and coming with a strong personal network in the above verticals for both recruiting entrepreneurs and peer-reviewers. b. Wide exposure to technology areas and innovation and commercialization c. Large scale program/project management expertise d. Running selection, evaluation, funding, monitoring process for complex projects e. Experience or exposure working with government organizations and driving them towards relevant change
