VP - M&A - Investment Banking (9-15 yrs)

The opportunity :

We're looking for VPs with expertise in Investment Banking to join our Lead Advisory Hub Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm whilst being instrumental in the growth of a dynamic team.

The incumbent is expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key Region or Practice Leads or Sector leaders.

Your key responsibilities:

- Lead a team of professionals undertaking the entire M&A buy or sell side deal life cycle for Lead Advisory Hub clients. Lead a large region or one or more sector teams

- Originating and cultivating strong relationships with end clients (including onshore teams, clients, Industry promoters, CXO levels) and lead the internal business development efforts to grow the sector and the regional practice in the defined area of responsibility

- Perform do-ability study of the transactions sourced and put it across the onshore Partners/Senior Managers with a view and analysis on fees, do-ability and identifying internal resources to work on the transaction

- Working on deal origination ideas / presentations OR pitch books OR buyer or target identification

- Performing valuation analysis using precedent transactions OR trading comparative valuation analysis OR DCF

- Preparing extensive business plan and financial models

- Working on live deals and helping in financial diligence process, preparing Information memorandums OR Management presentations OR Teasers

- Lead the deal execution process from front for managing client meetings and visits, bilateral discussions, commercial negotiations, due diligence, SPH agreements and ensuring timely transaction closure

- Participate actively in building an industry focused and niche M&A Lead Advisory Hub practice with front-end M&A execution support practice across service lines; Specialization in a specific sector will be an added advantage

- Contribute in development of intellectual capital in your industry of expertise

- Contribute to the development of new services

- Quality review of work completed by the team members and provide strategic inputs

- Measure, monitor and improve client service by guiding team members and driving excellence in service delivery

- Focus teams on the key priorities while managing several medium to large size projects

- Develop excellent relationships with global stakeholders (Partner / MD level) and be responsible for a high degree of client satisfaction with engagement process and work products

- Conduct timely performance reviews of team and help in developing and guiding by providing effective performance feedback/training and ensuring that team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals. Lead by example.

- Promote the use of current technologies and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided.

Skills and attributes for success:

- Expert understanding of the M&A deal lifecycle. Ability to understand and analyse an industry and company to deliver tactical or strategic insights for inorganic expansion or spin offs or stake sale

- Strong communication, presentation and team building skills and experience in producing high quality meeting decks, client presentations

- Exposure to M&A deal execution preferred

- Strong knowledge of valuations principles and financial statements

- Exposure to DCF valuation, Merger models and financial due diligence

- Experience in interacting with senior management of clients

- Excellent problem solving, project management, facilitation and interpersonal skills

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in developing final presentations

To qualify for the role, you must have:

- MBA (Finance) OR CFA OR Chartered Accountant

- 12+ years of front-end work experience in Investment Banking or Equity research engagements

- Strong experience in M&A Client Management, Strategy research, Pitch books, Target or buyer identification, financial research, client discussion materials including post-merger activities and financial analysis

- A demonstrated ability to build and lead a dynamic and highly motivated team

- The demonstrated ability to work within a given budget and schedule, ensuring top-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Ideally, you'll also have:

- Project management skills

- Exposure to tools like Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx etc.
